Why We Should Recycle

Is it truly possible to save this planet by taking proper care of it? Sure it’s ideal, but there are many methods to solve this means. Such as partaking in recycling. Recycling defines the ongoing method of turning used materials, waste or products into reusable materials. These materials come in many shapes and forms. Example of these would be - papers, cans, computers pieces, car parts, plastic, and batteries. But even with this method being very reliable, people still choose to ignore it. Recycling can be a very beneficial way of relieving this planet. It diminishes landfills, reduces deforestation, and lessens the need to create new material out of new resources.

One of the reasons why you should recycle is because it diminishes landfills. A Landfill is a designated place to dispose of waste. There are over 2,500 landfills are in the United States, let alone thousands more on this planet. With recycling we help make the choice to fix this ongoing problem. But deciding not to recycle creates this problem and increases it. Many items place into landfills take years and years to decompose. There are many items that don’t even decompose, such as glass. This will never decompose and eventually end up staying there. With the world already being over populated, we might run out of land. No one wants to live next to a landfill.

Additionally, another reason why we should recycle is it lessens deforestation. Deforestation is a big problem. It’s the destruction of forests, while in the process of making it into another space for something else. While continuing to make products from wood. This kind of deed leaves our animals and planet in danger. Deforestation not only destroys the habitats of our animals, but it also pollutes out atmosphere. With recycling, we fix this problem by reusing products and waste to make new items. Leaving the forests out of the process. Last reason why we should recycle is because it declines the need for new materials. With there being billons of people in the world, it creates the need for newer materials. Which when they are all used out, people will throw them out. This creates the ongoing cycle of waste. But with recycling, if people had the patience and the knowledge to separate their trash, the world would have less need to make materials out of unused resources. Instead they would be made with recycled goods. Recycling protects natural possessions because each and every time new product. We give something in to the center of recycling, that piece of material turns into awe turn something into the recycling center part of that is reused on a future product.

When people choose not to recycle, there are responsible for putting this world in danger. Their trash is taken to landfills, and that just takes up space. It takes very little time and effort to recycle. But some people do not have the sense to see what is happening to this world, and that they have a chance to make it right. Recycling moderates landfills, decreases deforestation, and reduces the need to create new material out of new resources. Recycling can be a beautiful thing if people chose to contribute.

Consumers have also begun to recycle more frequently which benefits the planet because its resources are not being consumed at a much higher rate. By recycling simple everyday items, such as glass or plastic, resources can be replenished. The cost of recycling is very economical because everyone profits from it. Landfills are filled with some materials that are not biodegradable and recycling these items reduces not only the amount of waste in the landfills, but also keeps energy consumption and pollution down. For example, recycling the newspaper or any type of paper will prevent…

When we recycle, recyclable materials are reprocessed into new products, and as a result the amount of rubbish sent to landfill sites reduces. There are over 1,500 landfill sites in the UK, and in 2001, these sites produced a quarter of the UK’s emissions of methane, a powerful greenhouse gas. Also what happens to the land we use to dump all our rubbish, eventually it will fill up and we won’t have anywhere else to dump our rubbish at, we will end up with more landfills the more we recycle.…

For my research assignment, I am answering question #6 from pg. 262 of the book Global Issues, Local Arguments by June Johnson that concerns the environment. In this question, I was given a scenario about a friend who is environmentally conscious. He recycles plastics, newspapers, and cans. He either carpools or takes the bus once a week to school. He tries to save energy in his apartment when possible, and despite all his efforts to stop climate change; my friend gets opposition from two groups such as liberals (which I initially thought would be on his side) and of course, conservatives. Both of these groups argue that his efforts are useless in saving energy and affecting climate change, but I think his efforts are not useless whatsoever…

We need to recycle, stop littering, and accumulate less garbage. How can we start to make these differences, we have to start with laws. For an example in California they banned the use of plastic bags. Just the banning of plastic bags alone in California made an immense difference to the environment. To look at a bigger picture, than just banning plastic bags, we need to consider biodegradable plastics. We use plastic and we’re going to keep on using it, so loosing track of small stray pieces of plastic is inevitable. Biodegradable plastic will help with stray plastic, in that “By the time some accidental piece is lost in nature reaches a gyre, it is completely decomposed in solely organic…

You may think that it really isn’t important and there is no reason to do it. But there is. You might have to pay more money in the future if our landfills get too full. If you were to recycle, you wouldn't have to pay money and we wouldn’t be wasting anything. You also might be too lazy to get up and throw you plastic bottle in the recycling bin. You would probably throw it in the garbage right next to you. To solve this, you could put a recycling bin next to all your garbage bins. That way, you don’t have to go outside and put your recycling in the recycling bin outside. Another reason you wouldn’t want to recycle is nobody else recycles so why should you. As a resident of the Earth, it is our job to keep the Earth clean. A major way of doing that is to recycle. If you know someone that doesn’t recycle, tell them reasons why they should. And make sure they get the message out to their friends as well. Lastly, you might not want to recycle because you don’t even know what to recycle. It is a very simple solution. Look it up or ask someone. And make sure everyone knows what to recycle so we can keep our Earth clean and healthy. Now imagine, what would the Earth look like if there was no…
