Paying students for good grades? If schools truly want students to do well in school, then schools should pay students for their hard work. There are lots of ways why students should get payed for good grades. First of all, it prepares them for the world. Another reason is, that their test scores will increase because they are motivated to do well in school. In addition, it will increase the graduation rates in high school. From better graduation rates, to learning about work, to making kids smarter, there are many positive effects of paying students for good grades.

To begin with, schools should pay students for their hard work and they are also preparing them for the real world. Where they have to work hard for life to get money. ”Paying students helps them understand why they are needed to work hard for life.” Said by W.M. McGovern from the Ginger Ninja Essay. This means that students who are getting paid for good grades, will learn that it pays not to give up on something that might seem difficult. The effect of this is, when students see that they will be paid money to keep trying even when the task is difficult. Shouldn’t students experience the personal gain that comes from the persistence of completing a frustrating activity at school.

This leads to motivate students to attend classes and learn more about the subject that they are studying. This means that they feel more connected in school and the activities. And they will more likely to graduate from high school. Clearly this means that more students will graduate from high school and they will be motivated to go to college if schools keep paying students for their hard work and for their good

Graders and educators seem to emphasize assignments and grading for performance and understanding. The grading system basically labels a student’s image either being a smart/average/”dumb”. Knowing this will run very deep in how a child careers their self around school or when they have to do an assignment. The grading system makes the student more focused on what they can do to get the grade that is Above Standard than actually care about what they’re researching or learning about, this is assessing students and categorizing them basically in groups based on their knowledge and skill in the course. Teachers do try to motivate their students but it doesn’t always work and students begin to chase their grade and become disinterested in the course material. I saw a post the other day on why students cheat on exams to pass and the top reply was this “When students cheat on exams it’s because of our school system values grades more than students…

College athletes are the hardest working individuals in college. Balancing academics and sports is never a simple task and is especially challenging in college. The athletes are still required to achieve passing grades, although many of them will play professionally. Paying college athletes would benefit all athletes, providing a small stipend for all of the sacrifices they have made practicing, training, and traveling, in addition to school work.…

When there is no money left in the process of this program, the motivation will not last. In “Paying Students to Get Good Grades” Christopher Peterson states that if there is no motivation, paying them is pointless (1). By this the author is stating that if students do not get the motivation they need for good grades, paying them will not help them. This is true because bribing people, especially minors, will only help them financially, not education wise. The author also states that “Children are given awards for what they spontaneously do; after some period of time,…

Some parents pay their kids allowance because they think that their kids will be more motivated to do their chores. This is not always the case, if parents pay their kids to do chores they may become less motivated to work at all. Kids need to do chores without being paid because they need to learn responsibility, kids would be less motivated to work if you pay them , and kids need to learn how to work for the things they want in life. If your child is just doing chores for money, then that's silly they are just going to want money one week to hang out with their friends, but the next week they don't need…

Eventually teenagers get less excited about earning money and expect more, in an article titled “ Why You Shouldn’t Pay Children for Grades” the author said “ Though you may see initial improvement, numerous studies have shown that over time, rewards dampen excitement about a task” (McCready). Children may seem to take an interest in the beginning, but over time they get bored and lose interest very quickly. Once the student starts losing interest and expecting more than money, their grades also start decreasing. Instead of paying their students for motivation, educators should reward teenagers with encouragement and congratulatory…
