Why We Should Be Required To Stay In School

In a 2012 speech President Obama stated, “When students don’t walk away from their education, more of them walk the stage to get their diploma.” In this quote Obama is saying that many kids who don’t quit school early are more likely to get a diploma. Kids who drop out then end up not finishing high school. They then do not go to college, and their income becomes lower than the average person’s salary. This being said, students should be required to stay in school until they are 18 or have graduated. They need education to be able to function in the outside world. One of the biggest reasons of why a student should stay in school until they are 18 is because they have a greater chance of finishing high school. Based on a survey taken in 2009, by the U.S department of education people who finish high school receive around 7,840 $, more than high school dropouts. They have a greater chance of success. This is further evidence that staying in school leads to great things. Clearly two more years of high school equals a better future and more money.
Not going to high school and then not going to college can lead to making bad decisions.
