Sports have changed dramatically in the past thirty-five years with players doing steroids, student athletes going to play pros after one year of college, and athletes that get involve with greed. "Believing that anabolic steroids can improve competitiveness and performance, uninformed or misguided athletes, sometimes encouraged by coaches or parents, abuse these drugs to build lean muscle mass, promote aggressiveness, and increase body weight." (“Anabolic Steroids…) Athletes in sports have had a lot on there mine while they are playing sports. They could be having off the court issues with greed or they are making a big choice in staying in college for another year. Most
Sports have had a lot of issues with steroids be used by players. Steroids should be banded from sports because people can hurt them selves if they do not use them right. Greed in sports should not be banned from professional sports because you need athletes to have some selfish players on your team. Also it can get people to like the athletes, but for others they will hate them. Professional sports should banned the greed because athletes can get to confident about their selves and can make them look bad. The athletes can hurt them selves by wanting to much money then the team is actually worth. Then people can ruin that to, once there was a big tragedy in the early “1900s and it cause the World Series to be canceled because of baseball went on strike.”(Greed in Sports) Athletes should not be complaining about money in sports. Most athletes make real good money while playing the sports that they love and should not be complaining about getting more money then need.     The effects of steroid use has been widely documented, especially in the past couple of years with all the high profiled athletes subjecting themselves to a tainted legacy because of the need to keep there competive edge while there skills where slowly diminishing with age. Sending shock waves through the sports world and fans feeling disappointed and confused, athletes have been slowly coming out in the public eye for their past and current steroid abuse. These athletes have been emotionally distressed and this I imagine is extremely hard to adapt to and handle. But what about the physical damagetheir bodies are enduring with these powerful anabolic drugs? This is where a lot of different opinions come in to play, between the so-called experts and the self proclaimed experts. The so called experts being doctors and self proclaimed experts being “JUICERS” in the bodybuilding world. Some people would say “_Well look, he is a doctor he must be right” _ and I would say that I rather take advice after a bad break up from a friend with the same experience than a happily married radio show love expert telling me what is politically correct. But it is very hard to argue science, which leads me to read up on many different articles from the other side. Rick Collins a writer for elitefitness.com had a interesting article in 1999, that stated how the public was fooled by the physicians into thinking that steroids was not a performance enhancer and did not make people stronger. He then went on to say that congress, was more worried about making competitive sports pure and not so much on the actual health of steroid users. This being his own belief (not fact) says to me that he might be right. The United States of America has a way of punishing athletes who use these drugs as criminals with huge penalties. This makes Rick Collins argument strong. Something that I also found pretty interesting was that the same physicians who said in the 1980’s that steroids did not enhance…
