Education, 2009, a high school dropout could earn $19,540. That is a lot of money but not as much as a high school graduate could earn with a diploma. A high school graduate could earn an average of $27,380. That is almost $10,000 more money for yourself or if you're helping your family. Let alone, if you stay in high school and graduate, you could earn a lot more than if you drop out at 18 years old. So although the reasons students disengage from school are important to understand and address, the basic fact remains that students miss out on long-term payoffs from doing so."
Another reason that high schoolers should stay in school is the jail percentage.
More than half of all dropouts to jail or on public assistance. Going to jail is one response to dropping out of high school. More and more people have been getting in trouble with the police, or their friends and family. There is also a reason the high school dropouts have been getting in trouble with family or friends because of their job choices, or their education level and not being able to handle real world situations on their own. Student that drop out of high school are less likely to be wiser, and or smarter than someone that have graduated college. Those who graduate have a more of a chance toward their dream jobs, and accomplishing what they have always wanted to do in their life, which they would have never been able to accomplish if they have dropped out at an age younger than 18. Raising the dropout rate is a great thing to keep in mind because if they do then there will be fewer dropout and students will have a higher education. Staying in school until the age of 18 should be a priority to all students because of all of the positive effects education has on their lives. In conclusion, dropping out of school will not solve the problem. If you stay in school you will have more of an opportunity to do better things in the future. Staying in school will keep you out of jail and of public assistance. Students could make more money and they can help raise the dropout age. Students should not drop out of school before 18 years old.
