Media is a source of communication that plays an important role in our lives. Nowadays people started arguing about the necessity for governments to have the right to place strict rules of banding or censoring movies or films that exposed are to their country. First of all, let me define the word censor, according to Merriam Webster (2014), " a person who examines books, movies, letters, etc., and removes things that are considered to be offensive, immoral, harmful to society, etc". In addition, the role of censorship is to block certain materials that the government disagrees with for religious, violent and sexual reasons. There are some people who disagree with the idea that the films should be censored, they feel they have the freedom
On the other hand, some people agree with the statement because they think that their government should be responsible about their society from violent movies or pornographic material to avoid the negative implications. For example, China's government is known to follow the Communist Party of China, which has very strict rules against their media industry, therefore they do not have the freedom to express their thoughts to the public. Further, In china the censoring of forging films is based on their political interest to save their culture and tradition (Beina, 2014). However, in the USA it is totally different because their media has the power to express their thought on any topic, and therefore do not have strict rules on censoring films. In my opinion, I agree with the statement that films should be censored because it leads to positive effects. Moreover, if we can see it in an ethical way, film producers have to show respect to countries with strict rules regarding censoring movies.
