Why Should Golf Be A Sport?
Golf is a 7 Billion dollar industry, 19% of all americans say they regularly are fans of golf, with 24.1 million people that play. Yet so many of them are fighting with each other about golf being a sport and in the near future it might lose its right to be called a sport. The reason is that it doesn't fit the definition of a sport in many dictionaries. To some it fits game better than sport. There are many subgroups of “golf” should it even call golf that if its so many subgroups? Some people agree that athletes that are in the long drive contests are definitely athletes because they’re always in the gym working out just to better their form, their ability to put as much energy behind that ball making it fly as far as 450 yards. “They are …show more content…
“Golf should stay a sport because it it gives people that might not have an opportunity to play any other sports the chance to have fun with sports.’’ (Teen Ink). And they can be semi-active while enjoying something.

A businessman and golf lover charles blair MacDonald moved to the quaint little town and began construction of this course, which is still running today, but it has been reduced to 9 holes. Reasons like this are why many people are fighting for the right of golf being called a sport. Also golf has been “higher” than all of us golf was played on the moon. February 6th 1976, allen barry preformed the one handed swing making golf one of the only sports to be played on the moon. The other being javelin. Golf is a sport that has a rich background in our country's history in more ways than one. It should remain a sport because of that, it may not fit the definition of a sport to the greatest extent but its history is too great to be called a game.
Golf should remain a sport no matter what people say, it is a fun and semi active sport that is fun no matter how much hate people give it. Even though people say that they hate it they really dont, they are just saying that to be “cool” or “fit in” it doesn't make sense people would rather bash on something that disagree with someone

Safety Considerations- golf is a very safe sport as long as a few basic, common sense rules of safety are followed. When those rules are ignored injuries can occur. If you are not paying attention to swinging clubs around you than you could be in danger. On the other hand, if you have the golf club it is your responsibility that your playing partners are a safe distance away from your swing. Golf safety also involves protection from too much sun exposure. Also, being aware of thunderstorms in your area and proper procedure of evacuating the course in case of a lighting strike. It is also very important for your body to have fluids on warm days so you don’t get dehydrated. Always make sure players ahead of you are out of your range before hitting your ball. Yell “fore” as loud as you can if your ball is heading of course onto another fairway or towards another person. If you hear fore make yourself as small as possible or crouch behind your golf bag, tree, etc.…

Like Muhammad Ali is to boxing and Michael Jordan is to basketball, Tiger Woods is considered by many to be the greatest golfer of all time. Due to his incredible playing on the course, his young age, and the endorsement deals he signed with major advertising companies, Tiger Woods ' fans place him on the "best of the best" list in professional sports. Society places an enormous amount of responsibilities on its champions or favorites. " Sure, he is good on the course, but how well does he support society? What does he stand for", the public says. There is more to Tiger Woods than a good golf swing or how well he can say " Buy these shoes" in front of the advertisers ' cameras. Golf is my most favorite sport of all time. I’m an athletic person and love being active. Golf is so fun to play, I played my whole life and will continue to. I love golf. My dad’s a golfer and he’s the man who taught me all I know. I like to golf because you can be out on the course and have time to yourself, (everyone needs that every once in a while). When it’s just you golfing, you can reflect on certain things— since golf is a slow paced game. Also, most golf courses have good scenery, considering the fact that majority of them are made in the middle of trees and hills. Nothing beats walking by yourself through nature and playing such a fun, relaxing game. Golfing with other people is always fun too. Golf is a fun sport, but it’s also very hard to perfect the skills. It definitely takes a lot of time to learn and be good at it. But…
