Why Should Everyone Should Pursue A College Education?

Garduño 4Think of job positions as a pyramid, with the majority being at the base, supporting everylevel above it. The jobs at the bottom would be those that are seen as jobs people who have noother option take. These are mechanics, plumbers, carpenters, technicians, all those who areperceived as unruly have a place. They have a role to fill in the big jigsaw puzzle that is oursociety. Our society should be seen in tiers, yet on a flat plane with everyone on equal footingbecause as long as those “at the bottom” are needed, they will always be welcomed by those “atthe top.” Not everyone should pursue a college education because it is simply not necessary.There is no need for everyone to be a doctor. There is no need for everyone to be a lawyer. Andthere is no need for everyone to have a piece of paper on their wall saying they did that littleextra than the next literal poor sap in line.
The question: “Is college worth it?” is extremely subjective. If someone were to shoutthat in any random room they would get a multitude of different answers because there are amultitude of different people with a multitude of different experiences and values. This question,just like the college system, is fundamentally broken. So many different answers could be givenand none of them would be wrong for the respective individual who gave them. Is college worthit? Well it might be to worth it for this student, but it is not worth it for that student. What wouldcollege have to offer to actually be worth the cost? Would it have to offer a robust system of bothcreative and academic rigors uniquely tailored for the individual
