Students would then get a written detention and if they had it taken away more than once, the student would get an in school suspension. There is no real "problem" with cell-phones in themselves. Students just need to learn, and remember, that there is a time and a place for everything. A cell-phone should generally not be used in class, unless perhaps somebody is standing at the front of the room with a gun, or if there was some other calamity, such as: kids making bomb threats and what not - for these reasons I…

Cell phones are a big part of everyday use, especially nowadays, to keep in touch with family, friends, relatives, co-workers, and pretty much anyone you communicate with. Cell phone technology is advancing everyday equipping phones with built-in cameras, internet, text messaging, translators, calculators, etc. Giving this much access to a student at the palm of their hand is the reason why cell phones are now being banned in schools. The reason is cheating. Many students figure that they don’t need to study and can still do well using their versions of modern technology to get answers off the Internet and from their friends. Therefore, if there are no cell phones, there is no cheating on tests. Since adopting this new policy, cheating levels have gone down, and focus levels have gone up. Because of students disturbing their classmates, the test scores were down but because the rule is set, focus has gone up meaning that test scores have gone up. I believe with this new rule, students will improve all around will improve their test scores because they will have much more concentration and focusing ability on whatever they are working on. Cell phones are also a huge distraction in class for the user and others around him. Students have far abused their privilege of having a phone in school. It is not fully students fault that phones have been used in such a way, as it is also the companies that provide such phones for the public. Parents may argue that their children should carry phone in school in case of emergencies, but schools have phones open for students to use in a case of an emergency. Additionally, some students do not have the privilege of having cell phones, which then sets them at a disadvantage behind other students. It would be like most of a math class being allowed to use a calculator but there isn’t enough. Wouldn’t we want all students to be treated as equals? If we allow students to use resources that are not…

To begin with, students should not be allowed to bring cell phones to school therefore it will cause a distraction in class for teachers as well as the students. If a phone rings in a classroom, it grabs everyone’s attention on the phone and not on the teacher neither the lesson. Students are so sill that that they react like they never heard a phone ring before. It becomes a competition for each and every student to find out whose phone it actually was. In particular, a couple days ago during my science class a phone rang from the closet. While we were taking notes on chemistry my teacher asked a question to one of the student about the states of matter. However, he was speechless. He had nothing to say but looking through the spaces. He was too busy figuring out whose phone was ringing that took his concentration away from the lesson. He was as curios as a monkey. By that the teacher loses his/her concentration from what they were teaching and the students loses their attention from the lesson. This was my first explanation on why students should not be allowed…
