Why People Want To Be Unique
What is it to be unique and what does our society say about people who try to be

unique. Being unique is the same as being different, and being different is not seen as a

good thing in our world. Why do we hate people who are different? Well it's simple

because we like to have friends that have the same likes and dislikes as them. There's a

reason people aren't all trying to be different, and that's because people are afraid of

things that are. So how can people like to be different when it might make people hate

them for it.

The need to be different drives people and makes them go to limits that no one

would even try to achieve. The world is run and made by people who are different and

help change the world weather it is

It is often said that conformity can be a horrible thing in today's society, but I have always believed that conformity was and can be a dangerous thing in life. In the article “Sociology of Leopard Man” the author Logan Feys states that, “Conformity can be seen as the world's most common but dangerous psychological disorder” (par. 6). In other words, he believes that being in a group surrounded by uniqueness is “unsafe” because we will not be able to think by ourselves and we as humans will follow the group and be a follower in life. Honestly it is a good thing we have uniqueness because we would all be doing the exact same thing and we need different people that can show us it is okay, without them we would all be thinking the same.…

Society is plagued with messages of conformity. We are constantly told who we should be. The truth is, everyone is unique. However, that uniqueness fades if we conform. We must structure our lives around our uniqueness, and use it to our advantage when we can. We must live as individuals and embrace our differences. Being weird can give one a true sense of freedom, as it gives one the strength to reject the urge to conform if we embrace it.…

Peter Ustinov once said, “In America, through pressure of conformity, there is freedom of choice, but nothing to choose from.” This is unbelievably true as much as we try not to admit it. Society has made it where we really don’t have a choice when it comes to certain things if we want to be “normal” and liked. Although we might say we would act differently than everyone else in a hypothetical situation, when it comes down to it, we would more than likely just follow along with the behavior of everyone else. This is just whom we are as individuals- how we are wired. We don’t want to risk standing out and being ridiculed or singled out. Sure, we want to be unique and remembered,…

To my way of thinking, #UniquelyMade means that everyone is made differently for a reason. Being #UniquelyMade is not at all a bad thing, but a quite great thing. In many cases, people don’t want to accept the fact that they are different and they want to blend in with others. Never should anyone pretend to be someone they’re not because everyone is made in their own unique for a reason. I believe that many influences on social media lead people to believe that they have to be like the popular celebrities and models around us. Everyone should be comfortable in their own skin and not be affected by the opinions of others. My lifestyle declares to the world that I am #UniquelyMade by the confidence that I have and the acknowledgement of my worth.…

Another reason maybe, is that some people just don’t fit in, because they aren’t the loudest, they might be a little weird or are not the best looking and just want to be noticed, people influence them into turning them into something they’re not just to get a reputation for example some of the popular kids in school, everyone wants to be like them very typical am I not right?. Have you ever stopped and viewed the world around you ? The world is so mysterious and unique. We live in a diverse population with people of all different cultures, ethnic backgrounds, and spiritualities. Max De Pree, an American businessman and writer, once said “ We need to give each other the space to grow, to be ourselves, to exercise our diversity. We need to give each other space so that we may both give and receive such beautiful things as ideas, openness, dignity, joy, healing, and inclusion.” Diversity is the understanding that each individual is unique, and recognizing our individual differences. These can be along the dimensions of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, age, physical abilities, religious beliefs, political beliefs, or other ideologies. I believe that people fear diversity because they fear what they do not know. In the NASW standards and ethics it states:…

In life they are some things that most people believe are right however, it does not is right, so a lot of people have problem with other ideas. We’ve all seen or heard people telling you how to look, feel, or act. People telling you to change,so you can fit in or look better. We all have been pressured to be something we’re not. Society thinks that conformity is huge part of life, that it keeps everything together. Conformity is important, but what’s more important is being unique, being yourself not someone you’re not. It is not good for individuals to change their feels, beliefs, looks, or actions to fit in with society because you’re basically changing your image to impress people.…
