Why People Attend Colleges or Universities
People attend colleges or universities for a lot of different reasons. I believe that the three most common reasons are to prepare for a career, to have new experiences, and to increase their knowledge of themselves and the world around them.

Firstly, universities or colleges help people to have new experience on life. Many students leave their home and move to live by themselves when they go to university. It is the first time that they had to create decision by them selves without their parents help. Creating decision like that will increase their knowledge. Moreover, students of the university or colleges can meet different students from different nationalities and religions so students can learn about different cultures around the world.

Secondly, many people go to university or college to prepare for career. Career training is becoming more important nowadays to young people. At college, students learn many skills about the real career life and they enter an internship with a lot of chances. All of these prepare them for the career life.

Thirdly, students attend university or collage to increase their self-knowledge of their personality in life. They attend so that they would increase their knowledge in subject which they find it interesting. For example, many students study science because they are interested in science.

To sum up, I think people should not only focus on a career when they go to university or collage. They have to follow to have new experience and knowledge about their personality and the huge world around them which they live in.

There is much debate about whether a high school curriculum should be career based or whether the courses should be geared more towards college preparation. If students receive a majority of their curriculum in their core courses to help for college preparation, plus have the opportunity to take a few career based courses, I believe that it will set a strong foundation for college training in the career of their choice. If schools allow students to focus more on career training in high school rather than focusing on college preparation today’s students may not have the strong foundation that college coursework requires to be successful.…
