Why Marijuana Should Be Legal
Marijuana is a misunderstood drug that is thought of as dangerous, when in fact it is in anything but dangerous. 16 states have legalized marijuana and about three more countries have recently made marijuana legal. Marijuana has become illegal for all the wrong reasons and should be highly reconsidered for legalization. There are other drugs that are legal, such as alcohol and Tobacco. Which leads people who are doing theses legal drugs to harm. The federal government and others who are against marijuana are not looking at the bigger picture of the whole situation. Have you ever heard this quote? “Man made alcohol, God made marijuana. Who do you trust?” There are all different kinds of charts, showing the rates of death of different kinds of drugs. We have, tobacco, cocaine, heroine, alcohol, etc. Then there is marijuana, which is at the very bottom showing a 0 percent death rate. Patients with different ailments use marijuana for medical purposes. It has been established that marijuana helps with nausea and vomiting, and anorexia. Cannabis is well conformed in treating spasticity, painful conditions, movement disorders, asthma, and glaucoma. Why is it that having a drug, which works on patients to make the pain bearable have to be so illegal. It is so much simpler to have medical grade marijuana to take away any type of negative feelings, associated with pain, rather than taking so many different types of pills the doctor has prescribed for you. A patient with back problems, who has had to endure a four to five hour surgery almost a year ago, is now taking all different sorts of pills the doctor has prescribed. She is still having pain and numbness to both her legs, because of the pain in her back. She is only 18 years-of-age and has been dealing with scoliosis since she was just one year old. And as she gets older she seems to be taking more and more pills. She thought the surgery would have worked, which in some ways it did,...
