Why Join The National Junior Honor Society
Service is the reason I would be a good candidate for the National Junior Honor Society because I have volunteered in the past and would like to volunteer more in the future. I like volunteering because I enjoy helping people. I would like to join the National Junior Honor Society because I like school, I like to study and I would like to do more volunteer work. One of the things I did was volunteer in the World Refugee Day. I drew designs on people’s hands with henna, I also distributed water to the people who were there to watch, and I gave raffle tickets to the people who were participating in the program. This was my favorite program because I was a refugee once and I know how it feels and, I liked this program because I think that learning about what others faced wants me to help others who are still facing the same problem. At the Asian Festival, I gave gift bags and name tagsto the people who were there to watch. The Asian Festival was organized to learn about other people’s cultures. Also, I was born in Nepal but my culture is from Bhutan. It was nice to share my culture with others. The third program I helped with was a soccer tournament that my fellow Bhutanese immigrants organized between teams from other states. As I volunteered there, I helped prepare food for the players, I picked up the trash, and I gave water to the players after the game. The purpose of the soccer tournament was to have fun and enjoy playing sports. I would like to join a soccer team when I go to high school. In the future, I would like to volunteer in a program that helps people who are facing cancer. My sister who also went on the walk for cancer inspired me and she was also in the Honor Society. Because I feel bad for those who don’t have the same opportunities as I do and I am sure that the people who have cancer would do the same thing if they

20177055 I would be a great candidate for the National Honor Society for many reasons. To begin with, I have a lot of experience being a leader and having responsibility as I was a captain for the Morris Knolls lacrosse team as a sophomore and the Morris Knolls field hockey team as a junior. Being an underclassmen, taking on a role of this magnitude seemed like a daunting task at first. Having been selected by my coach, I was shocked when she first announced my name. However, I soon realized that I was more than capable of taking on this role and looking back, I am grateful for the opportunities I was given as I was able to learn a lot about myself.…
