When I moved to Miami, Florida from Haiti at age six, I knew I would have to learn a whole new language to graduate through school and communicate with people. I started first grade in the middle of the year, while still struggling with my pronunciations in English. Not even into a week, I was immediately presented with an essay to write about what my favorite hobby is and why I like it. I happily wrote about playing with my dolls as my hobby. That seems easy, right? I get to write about something I like and can be guaranteed a good grade because it’s a personal essay. That definitely was not the case. In college, there is nearly a writing assignment in every class. It doesn’t even matter if it’s a math class. The teachers will always find a way to squeeze in an essay assignment. As a result of that, it can be detrimental to my grades. With this in mind, I still try to earn a good grade. Also, my writing issues will not be tolerated. My future profession will involve important information that needs to be typed about my patients. Hopefully, my writing skills will drastically improve by the time I graduate college. That being the case, I do take my previous teachers as part of my blame of not being able to write an average or great essay. Getting critiqued and not being told why and how to fix it will lead to many predicaments in the future. My predicaments can be failing my writing class and messing up my patients notes.
