Why Is Personal Informational Privacy Important?
Informational privacy is extremely important. Your personnel emails should be private and the amount of privacy with your work email should have limits set forth by your employer. If someone has an email account and sometimes happens to them and they are not here no more should someone be able to read their emails? When Justin Ellisworth gave his life for his country, his parents tired to get access to read emails so that they can understand what was going on in his life before he gave the ultimate sacrifice to his country. Should Yahoo have given Justin Ellisworth parents access to his emails. At what point does our personnel informational privacy become something that is not private? This brings up another question: Should work emails be treated the same as personnel emails when it comes to the amount of privacy that we as individuals have? Each and every person should be able to have their personnel information held to the highest level of privacy. When anyone is writing an email on a personnel email account, they should be to keep those emails private. No one should be able to have access to another person email account. When I write emails, I usually write about how I am feeling and what is going on in my life. It is a way for me to escape the world of deployments and release whatever it is inside. I write different things to each and every person I write emails to. I feel like sharing different information to different people because that might understand what I am saying and everything I need to say or write not everyone I wrote to needs to know. I agree with Yahoo when they should ground and kept to the privacy of Justin by not giving access to his emails to his parents. Just because you die does not mean that your parents or spouse should be given access to your email just so they can know what was going on in your life before you

I do not think relatives or anyone else for that matter should have access to information of an individual that supposed to be protected by a company’s privacy act policy unless the member stated in a will that these specific documents should be released to the individuals or if a crime was committed. There is a privacy act statement for a reason. The purpose of the act is to protect the privacy and rights of all people in his email. Although the situation was a sad loss for the family being that they lost a son, policy and privacy acts still apply. Now days prior to establishing accounts with email companies, social networks or any other online corporations they have the individuals read and sign a user agreement in which most if not all talk about how they will protect the individual’s privacy. Privacy is the ability of an individual or group to seclude them or information about themselves and thereby reveal themselves selectively. As being a leader / supervisor in the Army, I have had first-hand experience with this situation. My soldier was killed in vehicle accident and during the Line-of-Duty investigation; the soldier stated to others that he was going to commit suicide. During the investigation, the investigating officer wanted to search the soldier’s computer. The family agreed to it but as the Commander of the soldier, I had to disagree with the family and the investigating officer. If it wasn’t outlined in the last will and testament, the Army didn’t grant his parents access or rights to his email. Even if the soldier is deceased we still have to respect the right of the individual.…

The purpose of this paper is to explain what I use to protect my personal privacy. There are many different things that can be use to protect someone’s information and keep hackers from accessing their computer. Some people use anti-virus, firewalls and anti-spam software to help protect their personal privacy. As we all know with today’s technology having just anti-virus or firewalls are not good enough, but having something is better than nothing. They do not protect you from new or custom-made viruses and evil-scripts. There is no one solution to protect you from Identity Theft, it’s just too many threats to keep up with, and having one software will not do the job for you. One key to protecting your information would be multi-layer protection; this means having more than one program monitoring you computer for different reasons.…
