Even though every person listens to different types of music they all feel the same way when they listen to music. There is country, rap, hip-hop, metal, classical, and many more these are just a few types of music that people listen to. Victor Hugo backs up what I am saying the best. He suggests, "Music expresses that which cannot be put into words and that which cannot remain silent." Hugo was a French poet, a playwright, novelist, essayist, visual artist, statesman, human rights campaigner, and perhaps the most influential exponent of the Romantic Movement in France. Many people believe that music is necessary because it helps them convey their emotions or feelings. This is not the only way to convey your emotions. There are many other ways so this makes music not a necessity. Many people believe that they need music for many reasons. The most popular is to sleep. Numerous people say that there is no way that they can go to sleep without music on. I bet if they were to not put music on they would be able to go to sleep. When I listen to music at night when I am trying to sleep it keeps me up. This is because the music I normally listen to is the music I put on so I start singing along and it just wakes me up more and more. I eventually just turn the music off and I doze off to sleep. To go along with this, most of the people that listen to music when they go to bed have the music really loud and that keeps their brain active and awake. When music is on the brain has to work so that you can hear and comprehend what the singers are saying. This way the brain won’t go to sleep and this keeps the person awake longer than they would be if the music was turned off. Folks would say that music is a necessity and that they need it to survive, but really they can get along just fine without it, they just take it for granted and don't realize

Pieper answers this question by quoting Schopenhauer, who claimed music, "does not speak of things but tells of weal and woe" (42). This makes sense because it relates to "man's good," and our yearning for perfect happiness. When listening to music certain emotions surface, as Plato stated, "Music imitates the impulses of the soul" (Pieper 45). Thus, to truly understand what we perceive when we listen to music, one must understand what is being expressed, and not simply "listen." For many, music can be an "out of body experience," something that truly reveal's man and his meaning in life. Some may argue that music is simply "…a means of personal enchantment, of escapism…" (Pieper 50). How one views and interprets music truly reveals one's character, because, "music lays bare man's inner existential condition," (Pieper 50).…

Music affects everything. It triggers emotions such as happiness and sadness. I think this is true because when I listen to music I feel hyped, happy and very energetic. But when I think of that dear person I lost I feel like music understands me. It comforts me just knowing someone out there is going through the same or worse. Music tends to make you realize that you aren't alone and that you’ll never be even if that feeling is there. So, How is life without music can be? Life without music is like a shower without water, sleeping without a pillow, hugging a lamppost, eating french-fries without ketchup, life without music is like flowers without scent, puppies without tennis balls, and mom without…
