Proper Military and Professional Bearing, Order, Discipline, and Respect IAW AR 600-20 & FM 6-22…
The leadership model in ADRP 6-22 (2012) shows that military and professional bearing, fitness, confidence, and resilience affect one’s presence (p. 1-5). Throughout Benavidez’s life, he created a presence that is still seen and felt today. During a speech given in 1991, long after his retirement, Benavidez showed his military and personal bearing. Benavidez said, “It makes me feel great when I put my uniform on. That’s the best piece of clothing I have ever owned. And hey I wear it all the time, I don’t care what other people think. They think I don’t have civilian clothes. I don’t care. It is great to be in uniform. . . And I get a haircut every Friday” (Losch & Kingsbury, 2017). Benavidez demonstrated his fitness, confidence, and resilience during his recovery from his first wound in Vietnam. In 1965, Benavidez stepped on a mine, which paralyzed him from the waist down (Benavidez, 1991, para. 7). Against his doctors’ wishes, Benavidez would “slip out of bed and crawl to a wall using my elbows and chin. My back would just be killing me and I’d be crying, but I get to the wall and I’d stand there like Kaw-Liga, the Indian. I’d stand and move my toes, right and left every single chance I got” (Benavidez, 1991, para. 7). Nine months later, Benavidez limped out of the hospital on his own (Benavidez, 1991, para. 9). Benavidez’s drive to walk again…

Marching enforced the ideas of mind over body. The emphasis of mind over body would ensure that perfect unity in the unit would be secured. Discipline is the focal point of marching but marching also promotes the enhancement of midshipmen candidate’s physique. This is due to the grueling long hours of marching which enhances ones physical ability. Marching is a key element of traveling, or Δx getting from point alpha to point bravo. As one is able to find the initial velocity and final velocity with the amount of time they perceive with the accounted data they have of the distance they are going, or will travel. This helps with finding the final displacement which in turn will help the Midshipmen Candidate with mental processing’s of the “brain” or mental states. Marching helps break Midshipmen attitudes that they have previously had before coming to NAPS. Marching helps discipline and understand the standing of other units and how important it is to not walk through marching formations during broad daylight. The audacity one must have to walk through a marching platoon of any company. The balls one must have to walk through a marching platoon as if he/she didn’t care of the consequences such as writing a 500 word essay on the Ethics of Marching which the word count was just broken 21 words ago. If these Midshipmen Candidates do not break their attitudes by writing such essays, in the future they will be in serious trouble with bigger authorities such as Chief Clarke, Chief Kennon, and or LT Miniter or CAPT Fielding, which are some of the names that I fear to be in trouble with. Good Day to you and I apologize for my actions taken on…
2)Military posture: most people believe it is a perfect posture, but it is not ideal for these reasons. The centre of gravity has shifted slightly pushing the pelvis anteriorly and up, drawing the shoulders back, which draws the scapula back medially pushing the chest out and up, this causes the person to walk flatfooted. The centre of gravity has shifted posteriorly.…

Having a military mindset means, you will immediately look for cover and concealment whether you need it right away or not. You look for avenues of approach and escape, in your mind's eye you establish fields of fire, and calculate distances from the front door to the end of the driveway, end of the street or to ht big oak tree in the middle of the field. You look for sniper nests that can be used by you or by your adversaries. This is basic training for all military personnel and everything is filed away in the back of your mind. It's so natural you don't think about it, but the information is there when you need…
In the United States Army, military bearing is the root in which every service member practices in order to carry out good discipline and ethics throughout ones military careers. The Three General Orders of a Soldier, The articles of UCMJ, as well as our own Sailors Creed illustrates how a military service member should conduct himself or herself on a daily basis, on and off duty. Dependability is a major aspect of military bearing. Without dependability, one can neither perform properly in the workspace nor be depended upon by their coworkers, or chain of command to carry out their military duties adequately. A military member is required to be PUNCTUAL, and RELIABLE.…

Respect is not only shown verbally, but also by one’s behaviors and actions. For example, if someone (be it a soldier or not) you respect asks you to do something—you should show him or her the respect they are asking for and do what they say. Don’t argue, just do it. In the Army this often comes into play on a daily basis. If someone you respect asks you to do something, you should do it immediately and without hesitation. You should do it quickly. For instance, if someone asks you to go knock out twenty-five pushups, mountain-climbers, dips, pull-ups, crab walks, bear crawls, or another exercise, you should immediately show them the respect and do it. Do it fast and do not complain. Do not question them, do not ask for further explanation, and do not do anything other then what they ask. That might give them the impression that you do not respect them. If you perform the duty they ask, It will help show them you respect them and their word or authority. When someone has the feeling that you are respecting him or her, than they will behave…
The military will put the individual through rough and strenuous physical activity. They turn the individual into a lean specimen; by doing this it would decrease the obesity of today’s society. By decreasing obesity it decreases all the medical conditions and issues that obesity causes, resulting in a healthier America. With the individuals being physically fit, it teaches their children when they have them to conduct physical activity and eat healthy. They military will also groom and teach the individual to be more mentally stable when it comes to adversity. In the military the individual can go through some very life altering events, but by the military teaching them to never accept defeat it keeps them trying to succeed no matter what the situation is. With the extreme training they receive dealing with how to react in a fast and effective manner, the individual’s mental ability…
Sensitive items are those items which are attractive for personnel use, attraction to the wrong kind of people who like to steal sensitive items, (for example weapons, Military Identification Cards, Thumb Drives, and military equipment), and the equipment can be very hazardous. Therefore, it requires a greater degree of control and accountability. If a military personnel were to lose accountability of a military weapon, that weapon could make it’s way over to the enemies hands on where they can duplicate and get ideas on how the our weapons are made and make even better ones. With Thumb Drives there can be top secret information about the military, for example, dates of deployments, how many personnel is in a platoon, and etc. Not securing and keeping accountability of sensitive items can acquire the risk of loss by being intercepted by unauthorized persons.…
