Why Is Interscholastic Sports Important In Schools
Interscholastic Sports Schools around America have interscholastic sports as part of their school. Some people say schools should cut sports from their schools to cut down on cost. Other people say sport program make schools what are are and cutting them is a mistake. Although people think ending interscholastic sports is necessary, schools around America need sports at their school because kids learn sportsmanship and are getting exercise.
Most say if schools cut sports the students grades will improve. However, kids in sports have to pass to play. That is motivation for some kids, if schools take sports out some kids may have no motivation to try and will flunk. Also, the coaches stress student-athletes and make sure the players are passing.

According to “The Value of Sports,” athletes are able to set better long time goals and strive for them, vs non-athletes, (2). Athletes who play sports are more focused in school, they are more motivated, and they learn skills that may improve their life in the future. There is a rule called No Pass No Play, which means if you don’t pass a class in school, you can’t play a sport (No Pass, no play law affects many students throughout Texas) (1). This rule is effective in states like Texas. Americans should be for students without passing grades being able to play sports, because students in clubs are not affected, and the youth of America needs the teachings and values that sports are able to bring. Athletes in school tend to do better in school…

    1. According to the twelfth edition of Sports in Society by Jay Coakley, “"Generalizing about high school and college sport programs is difficult because programs and the conditions under which participation occurs are so diverse” (Coakley, 476). However, there are definitely some broad, widespread issues that are found within the majority of high school sports programs. The textbook offers a plethora of claims against interscholastic sports, and one that stood out to was the claim that highlighted the pressure that interscholastic sports place on student-athletes. Unlike club sports, high school sports practice for over 2 hours every day after school and have games on weeknights, leaving little time to prepare for exams and to get homework done.…

There are some questions that are something like, won’t kids grades suffer with less time to do homework? And the answer to that recently asked question is no, no they won't. As we have said before There is a study that has shown that kids do better with grades when they play more sports! Probably because you have to keep your grades up to be able to play that sport and that is incentive enough. If there were more sports in our school then more kids will do better with grades, they don’t even have to be good. They just have to have fun playing the game, and that is why we should increase sports at our school. There are many more questions that parents and kids have been concerned about when it comes to sports. ( sports: how much is too…

Learning, and get an education this is a very important thing in life you need it to have a good job so that you can have a family and support them. So I feel in school you must have good grades in order to play any type of sport, and if you do not then you should not be playing. A couple reasons I feel like this is for starters kids pay more attention to sports then they do in class. This is not how this should be. Kids should love to learn something new every day at school, but in some school that’s not the case. Kids need to learn.…

Many people don’t think that middle school sports are important, but I’ve come to realize that, that is simply not true, for middle school sports keep you active, and if you have bad grades you can’t play your game, so it also motivates you to work hard in school. Sports also give you a hobby if you have a lot of time on your hands that you don’t know with. Middle school sports also are a learning experience if you have never played the sport and would like to learn how to play. They are great for practicing for high school and most of the programs at Height provide opportunities to move to higher levels of the sport by finding out of town teams you can play to improve your abilities.…

Sports keep teens well behaved at school and in class. Sports reduce the number of fights, and bad classroom behavior. In order to play any sport in high school, the students must make good grades. If they fail to make the grades, then they are either dismissed from the team, or they must take a study hall before each practice for at least 30 minutes, sometimes even for the whole day until his or her grade comes up to a passing grade. In most high schools, there are problems with attendance from the students. If a player does not come to school, then they may not go to practice or attend the game that…

When kids are little, most everyone will participate in some sort of little league sports program. Most of those children will then continue on to play that sport threw high school and if they are lucky, even threw college. When a child is young and in sports, the responsibility that ensures that grades are being maintained falls into the hands of the parents, so therefore it is a rare occasion to see their grades being greatly effected. Once a student reaches high school though, then the problem sets in and trends can be noticed in the grades during season and off season. Many people argue that the point of sports is to prepare the athletes for the "real…

Some may argue that sports play an important role in teaching life lessons to athletes. Yes, you can learn valuable things through sports, but you can take on even better traits through school and teamwork activities in the classroom without the problems that athletics comes with, like injuries and pressure. School comes before athletics and some athletes think athletics are more important than school, so eliminating sports will help these students learn valuable life lessons through school and activities in the classroom with other students.…

If the student athletes stay more connected within their community then their community is going to be a better place. Not only that but that is how younger kids see these “big” kids and start to look up to them as roles models. This then encourages those same little kids to play high school sports and be just like their role models. If they cut sports that little kid will never be able to be like their role model.…
