After high school, millions of students decide whether they want to go to college or not. When it comes to the issue on going to college, most people understand that going to college will help their future. It helps prepare people for their careers fields. Most people believe it is a waste of time, when in reality it is not. Not going to college can make it harder to get a job. People believe college is too expensive, but the only thing that is going to become expensive is not having a college education. There are many reasons why obtaining a college degree has such a strong influence on one’s life. Everyone should be encouraged to get a college degree because it helps prepare us for certain career fields, makes it easier to get a good paying job, a person has more knowledge to have at their disposal, and college is not expensive as most people believe.

All colleges have different prices on how much tuition and fees are going to cost to attend. There are multiple ways to earn money for college like applying for scholarships, grants, loans, and financial assistance for college (FASFA). In the article “Should Everyone Go to College” written by Stephanie Owen and Isabel Sawhill it explains that “Research suggests that grants and loans increase enrollment but that aid must be tied to performance in order to affect persistence. Currently, we spend over $100 billion on Pell Grants and federal loans, despite a complete lack of evidence that this money leads to higher graduation rates. Good research on programs like certain scholarships suggest that attaching strings to grant aid can improve college persistence and completion” (Owen and Sawhill 221). Performance based scholarships is good thing because it makes students maintain a certain grade point average or amount of credits taken so they can have those
