Bodacious was a muscular yellow Charbray bucking bull that weighed 1,900 pounds. This bull was ranked the most deadly and dangerous bull in the PRB. He was known for his explosive exit out of the chute. Also, his technique of kicking his back legs up, bringing his head to the ground, and slamming his head back crushing the riders’ faces. His bone crushing technique is what sent Tuff to the hospital. Tuff Hedeman got the lucky draw of choosing bodacious to ride in the finals. That bull has had only six other riders ride him and none of the six had lasted an eight second ride on this bull. That undefeated bull has sent every rider to the hospital, so Tuff knew he was up for a good ride. Tuff was ready to beat this bull and Bodacious was ready to show him that he was not an easy ride. During the ride Tuff said his first jump felt fine. Then Bodacious’ horn hit his face and he ended up getting slammed on the ground and his body went numb. He said he could not close his jaw so he knew it was broken. When he looked up at the audience they were all staring at him with terror in their eyes. They could not find the ambulance driver, so Tuff just sat down and watched the ride on the TV screen while he was waiting. When they got him into the ambulance, his eyes started swelling…
Known to be inherently vicious and one of the only dogs to have locking jaw, were once one of America’s favourite dogs. Unpredictable and can never be trusted are just some more misconceptions of this well behaved dog. This breed is called a Pit Bull. Pit Bulls are not a breed but dogs put in to a category based on their appearances. Those who fall into this category should have a big head with a short, square muzzle, brindle in colour, large in size, muscular build, docked tails and many more characteristics. The thing is, some of these are not even common to Pit Bulls (Pit Bull University). Pit Bulls are the most misunderstood dogs in today’s society and things don’t seem to be lighting up. The breed should not be banned because it is not…
Most people think pitbulls are a terrible, mean dog breed. I am going to tell you otherwise. Pitbulls can be a great dog breed if you raise them right. Most of the time when pitbulls are being aggressive then they were taught that way or abused and scared. Many families have pitbulls that are being taken away and being euthanized because of this ban.…
When I say, “Think of a dog that is vicious.” what is the first breed that pops into your head? Is it a Rottweiler? German Shepherd? Pomeranian? Even a Chihuahua? Or did you immediately think of the American Pit Bull Terrier?…
Tournament - A sporting event in which two knights jousted on horseback with blunted weapons, each trying to knock the other off, the winner receiving a prize.…
Bull riding is the epitome of rodeo excitement. Nothing quite compares with man vs. beast when one outweighs the other by about 10 to one. With nothing but a rope separating them, the cowboy must hang on to the rope with one hand for eight seconds.…
During the eight centuries of the Spanish War of the Reconquest ( from 711-1492 A.D.), the Moors, knights, and Christians, not comfortable killing one another, would allow themselves (once in a while) a respite; but in order for them to not become bored, and also to release their “manly” instincts, they would all compete in this hunting expedition existing in the Iberian lands. Deer and other lax animals were easy prey, and while a cornered bear or boar would put up a fight, it was never a challenge for the valiant knights. However, the scenario was never the same when they faced the Iberian bull. This beast, with its unique noble bravery would, when provoked, rather die fighting than flee - transforming the hunt into a challenging exchange in which the bravest of warriors could bring their outermost courage. Perhaps a nobleman with a daring spirit thought about capturing several of these horned beasts, taking them to their village, and recreating the thrill of a hunt so that the knights would demonstrate their skill and win the admiration of the subjects. Thus, in a small corner of Medieval Spain, the beginning of what today is Spanish spectacle of bullfighting was created.…
Bull riding is not for the faint of heart, every bull rider knows that every time he steps across the back of a bull it may be his last ride. Yet these men don’t think about it because if they did they wouldn’t ride. Bull riders are men whose determination, try, and never quit attitude combined with their love of the game is what gets them through the pain, blood, sweat, and tears.…
People label Pit Bulls as "Killer Machines.” Breed Specific Legislation, or BSL, are a set of laws that restricts or completely bans the breeds of a dog from an area. Pit bulls have been given a bad reputation because of all the publicity pit bulls have received. Many states of the U.S. are stuck between whether or not to ban the breed of pit bulls. People who agree with the BSL may have had a bad experience with dogs, or may fear that they’ll encounter an aggressive dog. Everyone needs to come to the realization that dogs behave a certain way due to treatment from their owners. People need to understand that the BSL is a form of breed profiling, in this case it discriminates against pit bulls. They also need to see that the label of, “Killer…
Do you think pit bulls should be banned as a pet. No, they should not because they are a good pet, were a popular dog, and it is a very good guard dog. So those are some of the reasons they should not be banned.…
I am a firm believer of Pit-bulls making good pets. They can be as vicious as a pup if raised correctly. Yes, they can and will be protective at times, but that is because they adore you, not because they are blood-thirsty beasts. Some states are passing laws to make these adorable, caring dogs illegal, which I stand against completely. If that should be the case, however, all dogs should be illegal, not just one breed.…
Many people worldwide are afraid of Pit Bulls. They are no different from any other dog in the world. They are affectionate companions, generally healthy and easy to care for, people oriented, loyal to their owners, eager to please, and have a high tolerance to pain. These are some of the qualities that make them good pets. I believe that they should not be banned because 99% of issues that arise with Pit Bulls have to do with owners who are idiots (pitbulls.org).…
Pit bulls are the most misunderstood dog breed in the world. When people hear the name pit bull they automatically think of dogs fighting and attacking. Pit bulls refers to a range of breeds and, often, a mixed-breed dog. People think they are a very dangerous breed of dog. Because of this, some areas do not allow pit bulls and breeds like them. I do not believe pit bulls should be banned or technical words are breed specific legislation.…
Even though dog fighting is illegal in most states, people still find a way to get around the law and continue to abuse and force dogs to fight for their lives; law enforcement should bring down these cruel operations. Dog fighting is not the only illegal thing that happens at these events. Not only is this an illegal act it is inhumane, but dog fighting also is a front for illegal gambling, selling of drugs, and firearms.…
Something as old as bullfighting might seem out of style but it is quite a prominent sport. The show of bullfighting has been around for a long time and was a popular spectacle in ancient Rome. It was fully developed in the Iberian Peninsula. The North African Moors changed this sport from a “formless spectacle practised by the conquered Visigoths to a ritualistic occasion observed in connection with feast days on which the conquering Moors, mounted on highly trained horses, confronted and killed the bulls.”(Spainsh Fiestas) Around 711A.D. the first bullfight took place in celebration for the crowning of King Alfonse VIII. King Felipe V liked the sport but he banned it from the aristocracy because he thought it set a bad example for the public. Once it was banned the commoners accepted the ‘sport’ as something they did and started playing it around 1724. They couldn't afford horses so they did it by dodging the bulls and doing it unarmed. They dodged and taunted the bulls. They eventually ended up placing small spears into them which is where we get banderillas in the bullfights todays. It has been said that bullfighting is literally dancing with death. If they make one wrong move the fighter will get gored which is why it is so important for the…
