Why I Want To Live In Nebraska
When people hear Jason Aldean play the song “Fly Over States,” they hear the words “Just a bunch of square cornfields and wheat farms” and “ Who’d want to live down there in the middle of nowhere?” There are many reasons why people would want to live in the middle of the United States where Nebraska is located. Arts and Culture, Recreation, and Agriculture are some of the many reasons why Nebraskans love to live in Nebraska.

Nebraska has many opportunities for Arts and Culture. The Pinnacle Bank Arena offers family friendly shows, concerts, and sporting events. The events attract many people to the downtown Haymarket area in Lincoln. Omaha has the Joslyn Art Museum. It has old and new art in addition to educational and outreach programs.

Did you know I recently moved from Tennessee to Nebraska? When I moved to Nebraska, everyone told me how flat Nebraska was, how it was full of fields. In my mind I was reminded of Tennessee with its family owned farms that could stretch for several acres. I realized that though Tennessee and Nebraska are hundreds of miles away they are very similar.…

Long, long ago there was a place that nobody wanted to go to. There was no population and nothing there. There was no specific reason no one wanted to go, it was just the name for the place that made it sound inferior. It was called the “Great American Desert”. I meen that is a terrible name, especially back in the olden days. Nobody would want to live in a place where it is always hot and air conditioning was invented. Also, there is supposedly no water. “The Great American Desert” was the old name for Nebraska. I know it is very hard to believe. There was a man by the name of Edwin E. Perkins. He was living a fine life that any indigent person would die for, but he just couldn't find his place. He wanted to invent…

Marquart characterizes the upper midwest as more of a lonely place especially “While your driving west from Fargo on I-94” It is not very difficult to drive in the midwest, simply because there are no “rises or curves on the road.” The midwest is also considered a square state, meaning it is more conservative and rural. Something many people are not aware of. It is also more republican than non-square states.…

Kansas is oddly similar to Nebraska in the sense that it is all corn and wheat fields. The only difference between them is the things to do. Being near a military base, there was always a picnic filled with chuckles from family and friends, or a lake party. Even getting together to put a slab of meat on the grill for a BBQ was never out of the ordinary. It was easy to find something fun to do, without causing trouble. Moving to Nebraska, life was a little different. There was a little less to do around town after living there for a while, but if you're just visiting it could actually…

People are led to believe that Hawaii is paradise. Living is easy, weather is nice all year around, and the locals are friendly. This may be true but yet many still choose to move away from the islands to start a new life in the mainland. Some may say this is odd, but that is before they understand the reasoning behind it. It is difficult to support a family financially well in Hawaii, traffic is one of the worst in the country, and the crime for drugs is huge.…

One reason why living in the south is so great is cause of the natural resources of southern food. The population of the Southern United States is made up of many different peoples who came to the region in a variety of ways, each contributing to what is now called "Southern cooking." American Indians, native to the region, taught European settlers to grow and cook corn, a grain unknown in Europe at the time. Spanish explorers in the 1500s brought pigs with them, introducing pork to the region. West Africans carried some of their traditional foods with them, such as watermelon, eggplant, collard greens, and okra, when they were brought to the United States by force as slaves beginning in the 1600s. Creoles, known for their unique use of spices, are descended from French and Haitian immigrants who later mingled with Spanish settlers in the New Orleans area. Living in the south is good because I can eat all my favorite foods like cornbread, fried chicken, chicken and sausage gumbo, sweet potato pie, string beans, neck bones.…

Thinking back on it now, Alaska was an important part of my life, having lived there for the majority of the time I’ve been alive. The small town of Eagle River was a great place to live, even if it gets very cold in the winter. Since I’ve lived there for so long, I learned how to make my way around from Point A to Point B without much hassle and figured out how easily friends can come if you try. Where I lived in a neighborhood that wasn’t too far away from a safeway, so I could walk there and do some errands for my folks, and maybe do some shopping for myself as well. There was a park just across the way, which is where I spent most of my days if I wasn’t being a lazy nerd at my computer. If the summer wasn’t rainy, it…

With the crooning of Bruce Springsteen, New Jersey has been depicted as a non-descript home of industry. Take a ride on the turnpike in the north and you'll agree. Simply put, parts of the state are unattractive, but much of the rest is very nice. New Jersey is that odd location where you want to avoid the bigger cities and live in the smaller towns. They represent gems on the eastern seaboard with low prices relative to the region. Move to New Jersey and you'll be close to areas such as the gambling at Atlantic City, beaches on the Atlantic and large cities such as New…
