Moreover, higher education will give me the positive perspective of life and refine the moral values, through which I can lead an exemplary life. I always worked hard to achieve my goals.

After my transition from home country to the United States, my biggest challenge was to understand the language and communicating. After a lot of struggles, I learn how to speak English frequently, and do my best in my academic career. Now that I have improved in communicating with people I want to be more involved in different activities by joining clubs and doing more community service. NHS is my best opportunity for participating in different activities in school. In addition, clubs like NHS are an honor, and they look great on your college application. As an ESL student, I believe that I have achieved most of my academic

The four pillars of the NHS are scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character. I am proud to say that these are exemplified in my life through my challenging course load and experiences. Throughout my years as a student, the experiences and challenges that life has thrown at me have built me into who I am today. Before I started my high school career, I was inducted into the National Junior Honor Society. I started taking AP classes as early as my freshman year, and have only taken more since then. My enrollment into the Gifted program has given me opportunities to expand on my intellectual growth, including the Biology Olympiad and American Math Competition. Responsibility and care are aspects that influence my life that I could echo into the chapter of NHS. The most important lesson I have learned in my life is that responsibility is one of the major aspects to success. Being a older sister to three younger girls carries a lot of responsibility. Being a role model to not only them but other girls in my culture is one of my priorities. Being known as a role model means the most to me because it not only shows that you try your best at everything, but it shows that being your best influences other people to do the same. I always try to be helpful to others in my community. Recently, I have taken up tutoring younger children because I love to see students learning better from my help. Outside of school, I teach you younger children the pillars and principles of the Quran. When i'm not doing those things, I work, and babysit. I join a lot of school-based programs, clubs, and activities; so that I can familiarize myself with the school environment more and meet new people. Being a part of all these programs for school has really shown me that I can improve myself. After high school started it was a huge change for me. I really tried my best to keep my grades high and attitude good. Joining NHS will be another way for me to push myself to do better. It will give me a chance to reach my goals and hopefully achieve them. I believe that being a part of NHS will make a huge difference for me and the students ofI will bring all of these qualities of responsibility and care to the program. To me education is priority, education is worthy. Education is the key to success.…

My career choice is to be an R.N. (registered nurse). For starters, registered nurses (RNs) are not limited to working in hospital settings. They can manage hospitals, nursing homes, health center, and any other health-related workplace. They do a lot around the building, from checking on patients and taking reports of them to working at the front desk with the computers and phones. Working with the patients would deal with taking reports, they do not do much cleaning, but they do have to make people feel comfortable in there own room. When working behind the desk you would need to know how to manage a computer and the phones there. They could need to know how to file paperwork, how to check people in the hospital, or helping people find the room they need. My name is Theresa Dauda, I am currently an undergraduate student at the University of Manitoba. I was born and raised in the Sierra Leone. Growing up in Africa I have seen a lot of people in various background and I know how life sometimes can be unpredictable. I have been working in a hospital setting as a lab secretary and I know what it means to be sick, but without the experience to render help to the sick, that I always dream of. For me, nursing is more than just a simple career or job; it’s a privilege that measures our values as human beings. Touching the life of others is a treasure that is immeasurable. I chose nursing because this allows me to interact more with people. Nursing is a very powerful profession, it allows you to influence people and touch their lives. I am very willing to achieve this big responsibility. I believe that there is more into nursing than that simple definition “Caring or Nurture”. Being a nurse is a very influential and rewarding profession. Nurses care for people through illness, injury, pain, loss, dying, grieving, birth, growth, aging and health. For me caring for others, teaching patients and families, advocating for the most vulnerable of patients and building relationships with patients, families, and other professionals is truly what makes someone or me a nurse. Also the ability to be present with patients and families at the best and the worst of times is what is important to me. Sometimes you don't have to say a word. Just being there-knowing that it is best not to say anything-listening, holding a patient's hand, crying and laughing and supporting a family member is what is most meaningful to me as a nurse.…
