Why I Want To Be A Double Major Essay

The world of computers is infinite, but to discover all the new ways to use computers, I have to be prepared for the journey. Currently, I am studying to earn my Bachelors of Science in Computer Science. For the longest period of time, I wanted to study a double major. I wanted to challenge myself academically, since I knew I performed well under pressure. In addition, I there was so much I wanted to do and learn. Actuarial Science, Biology, Cognitive Science, Math. All of those were fields I wanted to learn about. After my parents convinced that a double major would be too much work, I decided that minors were the way to go.

Before taking my first step onto campus, I was a single major, but a quadruple minor. My passion for learning had pushed to go beyond. However, this time my parents surrendered and allowed me to choose the four minors.

After my undergraduate studies, I plan to earn my Masters in Computer Science. I believe that in order to be successful in the software industry, one has to be knowledgeable to do so. Like most in computer science, a bachelor's degree will do just fine . . . but, I don’t want to be “just fine,” I don’t want to be ordinary, and I don’t want to be regular. I want to be ahead. And if earning my Master's means that, then I’m doing it.

The reason I want to be ahead is that, I want to change the world. I know that’s a broad, unrealistic term, but it's my goal and I’m pretty sure that’s what this essay is about. I want to learn as much as I can about computers, so I can improve the world. The seemingly endless range of options for technological improvements gives me the confidence to keep studying, to keep working, and to keep dreaming because in the words of Big Sean, “one man can . . . change the
