Why I M Going To College Essay
As a high school senior you must ask yourself “what do I want to study?”, “will I have enough money to go to college?”, “what am I going to do to change the world. I never really worried about finding an answer to that question because I convinced myself that I didn't have to worry just yet, but the time has come. It wasn't until my first week working at my first job that I realized how arduous the real world is. Last summer I landed a job as a sales representative for a solar panel company called Blue Raven Solar. My first day on the job was stressful to say the least. I was in Staten Island going door-to-door trying to sign people up for appointments to get a free quote on solar panels. I worked for five straight hours in the scorching heat, sweating like a pig and still managed to accomplish zero leads. The only thing I accomplished that day were doors slammed in my face before I even began to present my pitch.
When I got home that day I felt like a complete failure. It was a commission based job so you only get paid for appointments you make,

My first job was as a sales person of eye glasses at a Christmas fair. I was hired for one month with no day off to sell glasses during the month of December for a small retailer. I was responsible for the eye glasses to be displayed and clean, and sell them. It was not easy because I had to wake up early, open the shop; and my day finished at 8-9 pm when the store closed. It was a very busy time of the year. It was a very hard one month but there was nothing more satisfying then the first pay check, then I knew I did a good job. There is no embarrassing job if you learn to do it with pride and respect.…

At my Starbucks, we would have one person working each shift. We had three shifts per day, the opening shift, the midday, and the closing shift. With all my luck I got to either open the store, or close the store. I really didn't like opening or closing, but I said to myself, money is money, and I can't go wrong with making money. Another thing that bothered me about my job was the money. My starting salary was only $6.50 per hour, while other Starbucks salaries started at $8.00 an hour. I didn't apply anywhere else, so I guess I was stuck with the job I had for now.…

Shortly after being jobless for the second time around in the same year I had low spirits, nothing going for myself, I just simply didn’t want to do anything. I lost myself. One day I met up with one of close friends and wow did she ever lecture me, but the words that gave me comfort were “Everything will turn out all right”. These small, simple words turn things around for me. I’ve always heard people say it but never put too much thought into…

The reason why I'm in college is because I want a better future for myself and to show my family that I can become somebody one day. Sometimes I would say to myself like “why am I even here? This place is not the place for me “. In other words college is not for everybody because not everyone who lives with their parents who can afford for tuition for college. But for me I realize that staying alone and not doing nothing for me was the biggest mistake I ever made as young adult at the age of nineteen. Soon as I turn 20 I decided that it was time for me to do something that’s going to be right for myself which was working and going to college. The first day of me attending college was amazing meeting new people and getting to know others such as colleagues.…

I worked at Papa John’s and Clyde, the manager, always seemed to be in a bad mood. That day started out the same, with Clyde and his bad mood. This didn’t shock me in the least. Due to this, I would simply grab an order, slip out, and start my work. I was doing my routine and zoning out in an effort to make it through the day. Needless to say, I felt my life was so routine and boring that I wished I was anywhere but there. You might say I felt sorry for myself.…

On Monday the seventh of February this year I started my work experience. I did my first week in a clothes shop called Bershka in Mahon Point. I started work at ten o clock and finnished at half three. On Wednesday I had a half day so I finnished at half twelve. There were three other girls in my year doing their work experience in Bershka too. We got a twenty minute break at eleven and we got a hour lunch at one o clock. It was very busy in the shop because its popular and very fashionable. I had lots of different jobs to do. Sometimes I was in the changing rooms, collecting hangers and bringing out clothes back onto the floor, other times I was in the back in the storeroom folding and hanging up clothes that had been taken off the floor. I also was on the floor folding clothes and hanging them up and when there was a delivery I was around the back doing what they called "ripping and stripping" which is taking the clothes out of the packet and making sure the right price is on the tag. The other thing I did was help change the shop layout around, one of the managers was in charge of the way all the clothes, tables and shelves were layed out and she moved them around each time they got a delivery to mix things up and give the shop a bit of vareity. The other workers were kind and helpful. Overall I got great benifit and enjoyment, I didnt get a job out of it but it was a great experience.…
