Why I Hate Writing Class Analysis
Honestly, I really hate writing essay so I would choose some classes which doesn’t require me to write a lot. I would like to choose the course like geography or psychology, there are a lot of reading required. By reading a lot of books, I learn more vocabulary that can help me to improve my writing skills. So I think it was a good preparation for me before taking the English writing class.

When I first started in ENGL 1101, I expected to read old books about Shakespeare or Macbeth. My expectations have been met due to the fact that I learned a vast amount about writing and by what method it takes to construct a proper essay and also the suitable way to add different elements of MLA and citations to a paper. Now I think that reading and writing is a fundamental part of life and that its important to be able to understand and construct an essay that can be beneficial to readers.…

I learned two major things about my writing skills during this class. First, when presenting an essay for peer review, make sure that it is not a very rough draft. Second, the types of essay styles can change easily when writing. Even though my paper is supposed to be expository, using certain words and tone can create a totally different essay style.…

When I started this class, I believe I had strong writing skills, and now I believe these skills have strengthened, making me a more conscious writer. Before this class, I have not focused on aspects such as sentence length and specific words that I am using. Instead, I simply wrote and worked on proper grammar. My essay writing skills have definitely improved throughout this class simply due to the fact that I spend more time writing my essays. Now that I have mastered more skills, I can utilize them in every essay from here on out. While I know that I still have room to improve, I am pleased by my progress and I feel more confident about my writing. I have always enjoyed writing essays, but this class has helped me more fully understand the complexities of writing an essay. Previously, most essays I have written have been standard for English classes, and…

A student is required to complete at least one of these courses every year, regardless if they already meet the requirements to graduate. While these classes are necessary for the first two or three years of high school, should they continue to remain so throughout the rest of a student’s education? The last year or two of high school should be devoted to developing a student’s interests. If a student aspires to become an author, editor, or literature professor, then English, literature, and creative writing would be their focus.…

English 101 however, helped me improved the areas in which I was weak in from high school. Before, it was difficult to find the bigger meaning of an article, poem, or any form of writing in general. However, with the help from taking this course I was able to figure out how to add meaning to the essay. I also learned how to add evidence and analysis them better in my body paragraphs as well. It was difficult in the past, but now I gained skills such as outlining, writing rough drafts and the organization needed for a successful essay. I hope in English 102 that I will use my English 101 skills and be even more skilled in my essay writing. I also hope to learn more about adding evidence within the paragraphs and honing in the essay to make it all flow together. Also in English 102 I hope that I will learn to be more confident with my essays. I have talked in a couple of assignments where my confidence makes me question whether or not to add certain analysis into essays which sometimes may have made my grade not as good as it could have been. In English 102, I hope I will not question myself as much and show more confidence. I also wish to eliminate repetition in English 102. I have received many comments that I repeat my analysis a lot and that also cuts of some points of my grade. I need to continue the analysis more rather than just repeat it in a different way. With these two core English classes that I have/will take, I know that my foundation in writing will be…

When the semester began I thought to my knowledge that my writing was that of good quality. Though I had a good basic understanding of the format of an essay or letter I still had a lot to learn. My writing changed in many ways such as learning to eliminate unnecessary wording in my thesis, the use of synonyms, analyzing quotes and writing abstract to concrete thoughts or ideas. This Class not only helped enhance my writing abilities but to also better evaluate the writings of others and forced me to acknowledge the rigorous work of future courses in college.…

I believe this because I struggled greatly with grammar and spelling, and found long essays a challenge. While at Isothermal I have taken at least six classes that have directly involved this competency (not including classes that involved it indirectly). These classes have not only helped me improve my grammar and spelling but I have also become a much more centered and concentrated writer. I no longer find long essays so challenging. These skills were improved through constant practice and feedback from my instructors. Now that I am nearly done with my degree, I feel that I perform at a level four. I believe this because my artifacts in reading and writing are graded very highly by my instructors. For my reading artifacts, I chose to include a book review of Rites of Spring by Modris Eksteins, an essay on Thomas Hardy's Tess of the d'Urbervilles, and the study guide I completed as I read Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. I chose these because I feel that they are some of the most complicated books I have read. I also included them because I believe they reflect my strength in reading. I received a 95 for the review, a 94 for the essay, and a 100 for the study guide. Before these classes I struggled to understand meanings of books, but now I understand even the most complex of meanings. All of my artifacts in this section reflect the writing competency. I feel that the ones I have chosen really show my improvement in writing as I advanced through my classes. I especially enjoyed my Thomas Hardy essay entitled "Family as a Factor in Failure." I believe it truly exhibits my abilities not only in reading but also in my ability to express my own opinion through writing. I feel that this competency is important to me because, as a teacher, I will need to be able to write properly as well as understand English grammar in order to properly teach Spanish to English-speaking…

Before choosing the EAP course at LondonMet I had a doubt whether I needed to stay at Rose of York language school and study Business English, which is relevant to my main course, or to study English for Academic Purposes at university. The main reason of my anxiety was, having spent several years at the language school, been familiar with all teachers, librarians and most students and been taught by a Cambridge graduate with lots of experience working in a big oil company I felt therefore quite comfortable and confident. Another choice, a three-month Pre-Sessional English which implies new teachers, students and classrooms all of these factors presume a period of time for adaptation, and during this time the effectiveness of the process of study is usually very low.…
