Why I Chose To Become A Firefighter
My plans to make this the best semester yet
At a pretty young age I discovered what I wanted to do for a career, I decided joining the fire explorer program would be beneficial for me to learn all I could to become a firefighter. In the sixth grade my mom had to call the fire department because there was a small fire in my kitchen, I remember being so fascinated and inspired that I knew I would become a firefighter. While still in high-school I was able to take my first college class which was a class preparing me for the fire academy, I was determined to pass that class despite being the youngest and having the least knowledge. I went on taking more classes at my high-school taught by the local firefighters as well as some medical classes, I was well prepared to apply to the academy. A lot has changed since high-school, I gave up on my dreams of being a firefighter and gave my spot in the academy to someone else I found that nursing was my true passion. While taking a college course while still in high-school taught me a lot, I learned that I am the only one responsible for my education, I couldn’t give excuses or just decide not to do the assignments because

I have plans in place for if my son would need me with him as well as plans to be able to continue being able to afford college, my fiancé is every very supportive with my schooling he wanted me to quit working to be able to focus on school 100% as he was able to get a new better paying job and in case of any emergency he is willing to step in and help so I don’t have to drop out of school once again. In case I do find myself needing a plan B on my career choice I do however think I will be able to drop to a lower level nurse such as an LVN instead of an RN because I have already studied a lot of the content intended for that program just in case I needed to fall back upon that

Education has always been one of the most important things to me, and I am dedicated to learn as much as humanly possible. Throughout my high school career I have challenged myself by completing six advanced placement classes and taking other honors classes. I was inducted into the National Honors Society during my junior year of high school, and I graduated with honors. Both of these successes are the two greatest accomplishments of my high school career. These two achievements prove how dedicated I was, and still am, to getting the best education I could. My quality of dedication will stick with me throughout my future endeavors.…

When I started running low on funds, I decided to go to training to become a certified nurse's aide (cna). It didn't take long and cna jobs were plentiful in nursing homes. My first job was as a cna in a nursing home. I loved it, but it was hard work. Next, I got a job as a cna at Cabell Huntington Hospital on the med-surg floor. This reaffirmed the notion that I do love that kind of work. Pay was not bad either. At this time I was single so I made plenty enough money for me. I still wasn't ready to commit myself to school.…

When I first arrived at high school, I was extremely nervous. The school was huge and there was not a familiar face in site. Although I was nervous, staff and students did their best to create a positive learning environment. Going into my sophomore year, I received the same positive energy from the staff and my peers. My guidance counselor, Ms. Hunter, helped me to prepare and offered me the opportunity to enroll in…

My decision to join Army Special Operations Forces derives from my experience in the Field Artillery branch. As an ambitious young officer I acquired a multitude of additional skill sets during Field Artillery Basic Officer Leaders Course in hopes of becoming an indispensable asset to my unit. As I continued my career in the branch it became more and more apparent to me that those skills I will rarely use in the operational field. At the time, gender restrictions limited my career progression in the branch and not much of latitude to expand my knowledge and experience. I wanted to be useful to the military. Knowing that I have more to offer to the U.S. Army with my multicultural background and language proficiency skills I decided to join the Army Special Operations Forces.…

I would like to start off with a simple, yet powerful quote, “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.” -Wayne Gretzky. I was an average teenager, I took all regular and one intermediate class. Little did I know I would be taking dual enrollment…

My mother was a single unemployed woman for most of my life. I knew I wanted to walk my own path, but I wasn’t certain what that was. When I entered the workforce, I didn’t follow my dreams; I simply followed familiar steps. For many years I wanted to pursue a career in the medical field, but responsibilities held me back. Later, I entered nursing school at Baptist School of Nursing and I was well on my way to becoming a nurse.
