Why I Chose Theatre Research Paper

It took until high school for me to realize that I wanted to have a career in acting. I did not have the confidence before then to allow myself to think that it was even a possibility. As soon as I was able to admit it to myself, I knew that I had to start taking it seriously and pushing myself to become better. Now that I am certain of what path I want to go down, I have to work hard to improve myself in order to grow stronger.
I’m applying to the department of theatre because I know that I want to be a performer, there is nothing else in this world I would rather be. I know this department is not just about acting; it is also about learning alongside people who want to be there just as much as I do. The professors in the program are working professionals themselves, giving students like me a chance to receive a unique education and an incite to the business that we want to be in. Another thing that draws me to this school is that although the program itself is not incredibly large, the school population is; this allows me to enjoy the comfort and familiarity of being in a tight knit theatre community, while also giving me the freedom to go out an explore interests that are not just
I always did better in school when I was rehearsing for a play. Whether it was English, history, or even math, I found myself using the way I dissected and broke down things in those classes and applying them to preparing for roles. Something that makes the Michigan stand out for me is that it holds the theatre students to a high academic standard. I know that being challenged both theatrically and academically will only make me a stronger actor, as well as a better thinker. Being pushed to my fullest ability will help me grow as a person because I can learn how to balance all my responsibilities, helping me to become more successful in the
