I’m applying to the department of theatre because I know that I want to be a performer, there is nothing else in this world I would rather be. I know this department is not just about acting; it is also about learning alongside people who want to be there just as much as I do. The professors in the program are working professionals themselves, giving students like me a chance to receive a unique education and an incite to the business that we want to be in. I always did better in school when I was rehearsing for a play. Whether it was English, history, or even math, I found myself using the way I dissected and broke down things in those classes and applying them to preparing for roles. Something that makes the Michigan stand out for me is that it holds the theatre students to a high academic standard. I know that being challenged both theatrically and academically will only make me a stronger actor, as well as a better thinker.
