Why High School Should Start Later Essay
It is fairly difficult for teenagers to go to sleep and get up earlier due to a change in their internal sleep clocks as shown in research. Should high school classes begin later in the day and end later to accommodate students’ natural sleep clocks? I think that changing the school schedule would be a bad idea. It would make all after school activities start later and cause jobs to be delayed. Another reason is school would end around 5pm which is when there is a lot of traffic and it gets dark. The school schedule should be left alone because it would mess up everyone’s schedules. Reason one is after school activities such as jobs and sports will start later. People who get off of work or get home from a sport will be doing homework all night. The people who have jobs will also be working later and will then have to sleep in late to get the sleep they need. Also if someone needs to stay after for tudoring or for a club then they will not be getting home until after dark. Dietary schedules will also be changed because lunches and dinner will be eaten later on instead of normal. The schedule being changed is a bad idea because it messes up everyone’s food and activity schedules. …show more content…
The worst time to be driving on the roads is around five oclock because you will be sitting at a stop light for about thirty to fourty five minutes. This will also cause you to get to work or home at a later time. Another reason getting out of school at five oclock is bad is becasue it starts to get dark. Most parents don't want their kids driving at night because they are more likely to get in a reck.
