It is important to keep honoring our veterans because they have sacrificed so much for this country. Also we honor them because we need to tell them how appreciative we are of their dutiful service to our country. Even the president honors our veterans. Each year the president or one of his representatives lays a wreath on The Tomb of The Unknown Soldiers in the Arlington Cemetery every Veterans Day to honor those veterans. Even though the first unknown soldier was laid to rest there on Armistice day on the year of 1921 this ceremony still continues. This is one way that shows just how important honoring our veterans…

Our heroes silently serve, provide aid around the world and defend the quality of life that Americans enjoy. They are proud of their service and rarely ask for anything in return, so they walk among us, often carrying the scars of their sacrifice. These people often do not get the proper recognition they deserve, as many of them lose their life, and sometimes we don't even take a second to think about it as it happens so often, when we should mourn and respect, these righteous heroes. Yet there are people who indeed disagree with this statement saying that not all soldiers should be categorized as heroes. For example, Chris Hayes is the host of All In with Chris Hayes on MSNBC, and three years ago, he stated, “obviously there are individual circumstances in which there is genuine, tremendous heroism: hail of gunfire, rescuing fellow soldiers and things like that. But it seems to me that we marshal this word in a way that is problematic.” Hayes uses the phrase, “genuine, tremendous heroism” which implies that soldiers have to do more than just fight to be heroes. They have to do more than risk their lives and put everything on the line by just going to war. The standard definition of a hero is a person, typically a man, who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities. The phrase that Hayes uses is a subjective phrase, and he uses it’s meaning in a…

Veterans. For most people, the first word that pops into their minds is heroes. What are heroes? People who act like role models? Someone who chooses to do great deeds? We all think differently when it comes to veterans being a hero. But in my opinion, veterans live as our America's heroes. These are the souls that want to protect our citizens and fight for our freedom. We’re talking about the men who prepare most of their days, training how to be a better soldier and a skilled person out in the battlefield.…

Should we admire heroes but not celebrities ? Arthur Ashe in Worth Repeating once said , " Heroes have the urge to serve others at whatever cost . So these people can easily acquire respect . Celebrities are other group of people who can be easily known by people . Many people believe celebrities are not as good as heroes , because there are so many different kinds of celebrities and some of them are known for their bad behaviors . In my opinion , those notorious people are not real celebrities . People should admire both heroes and celebrities . The action of Nicholas James Vujicic who has a strong will is a good example that demonstrates that celebrities also deserve to gain admiration . Veterans are an important part of our nation and do not get the credit that they deserve. Veterans have risked their lives for this country countless times, yet they go unappreciated a lot of times. From a personal stance, my grandfather is a retired veteran himself and he fought in the Vietnam War. If my grandfather had not been able to get on his feet from retiring from the Navy, I would hope that there would be some type of support system for him. A lot of veterans today do not have the support system that they had when they were in the service. Once the veterans are out of the service their lives are not structured while in the service they were organized and controlled.…

In 1865, President Lincoln made a promise, “To care for him who shall have borne the battle, and for his widow, and his orphan." He made this promise close to the end of the Civil War. This war was one of the deadliest wars on American soil. There was hardly a family in the south that was not impacted by the loss of a loved one - father, brother, or son. Without their sacrifice the U.S. would not be what it is today. The United States veterans selflessly dedicated their lives for the sake of their country. Their families also had to risk the lives of their loved ones for the sake of their country. The veterans and their families deserve respect, love, and support. Caring for those who have born the battles of our country should be a great honor…
