• What is this case study about in general?
Generally, case study is about France Vacances, UK-based travel agency. It specializes in the rental of high-quality self-catering accommodation in France. They offer two category of services during summer and winter. For summer, they offer holiday cottage, meanwhile for the winter they offer apartment and chalet in various ski resorts. France vacances use two mains sales channels. Firstly by direct selling to customer through mailshots of its brochures and customer support centers that cover 70% of its total sales. Secondly, sales via high street travel agents that covers approximately 30% of its total sales.

From this type we can see that we are relatively developing a new system that our customer require. We also can see that the France Vacances had entrust the development of its internet services to a company E-con. Other than developing a new variety of systems we also can implement the other IS project types like system enhancement project where the E-con can relatively improve and enhance the functions of the website of the France Vacances. As we can see that the company had already have their official website but they want to enhance it’s into a something that can guarantee the safety of their customer credit transfer via internet and a web that can serve as a booking counter. Thirdly, they can apply the concept of systems migration project where they can used the existing systems but with a new brand new operating environment.
