Why Dress Code Should Be Changed In Middle School
The rule that I would most want changed at our middle school would be the dress code. We should be able to have our shirts untucked, be able to wear whatever we want, and our school performance should not be based on what we wear. One reason why I think the dress code should be changed is because we should be able to have our shirts untucked. We should be able to have our shirts untucked because all we are doing is sitting there in class. Sometimes I want to move around, but really can't because my shirt is tucked in. If your shirt was untucked, you'd be able to do a lot more things. When your shirt is tucked in you might get more frustrated because it is so tight, which leads to getting off task and not being able to learn anything that day. People who are overweight might especially feel uncomfortable and probably a little embarrassed. I know if I was really overweight, I wouldn't want to go to school if I had to tuck in my shirt. I also think that having your shirt tucked in kind of makes students look kind of geeky, considering you have it tucked in all day. Students should have the freedom to dress more comfortably. …show more content…
If you are really interested in the army or things like that, you probably like to wear camouflage clothing. If you want to wear those styles of clothes to school you can't because the teachers and the principals will think it is gang related, and you would get in trouble for wearing those clothes. When you want to wear two different colors of shoe laces because it matches your clothes, or you think it looks cool, it will be considered gang related. As long as you are there to learn you should be able to wear an earring or even a cap as long as you are not messing with it non stop. Students should be able to wear anything they

54 percent of schools in America have dress codes. This issue is important because, they have caused numerous lawsuits, and safety concerns across America.Yes some people believe that school dress codes aren't necessary, but they are necessary, because they help promote school safety. Requiring students to conform to a dress code is beneficial to the school experience, because they prevent gangs from identifying each other and help prevent gang violence, they decrease the gap between rich and poor kids, and they help easily identify non-students.…

I disagree with the school dress code because it doesn't allow people to express themselves, people can't dress for the weather, and it doesn't let people choose how they want to look because it's supposedly a distraction. The dress code is "The bottom of your shirt must at least meet the top of your pants or shorts, and undergarments should not be exposed. There must be a substantial covering over both shoulders. See-through clothing or clothing that is so very tight that it draws attention to oneself are also unacceptable. Shorts/skirts must have at least a 4" inseam."…

One of the many problems that high schools have is enforcing dress code among the students. Students take advantage of this and decide to wear what they want. I believe that we should not only have a dress code but we should have uniforms. This will make enforcing dress codes easier.…

It would be so much easier for the parents, teachers, and students if there was no dress code. The students wouldn’t have to worry about twinning with another student because their options are limited, sticking out like a sore thumb when they go into public places, buying new clothes, and just being flat-out embarrassed. The teachers wouldn’t have to constantly get on the students for breaking the dress code. The parents would actually save a little of money, as well.…

I think that Monett should have a dress code, because a lot of people wear clothes that are too short. If we didn’t have a dress code, then I think that it would cause problems, because the students would wear even shorter skirts and shorts. Then I think that it would have a really bad influence on the younger generations. They would think it was okay to dress slutty and that's not something that we should be teaching them we should dress nice. It could also lower our school ratings, because we are rated not only on our test scores, but on the way that are school looks and the way the students look and act. Having a dress code can help improve someone and the things around them. It is the little things that help improve some things. It lowers…

I am rarely ever the one to post, especially about my issues, but I am speaking for many. While the discussion and arguments about school dress code are going on so isn’t downgrading, stereotyping, and bullying. Many comments have been made by people who are stereotyping others for instance cheerleaders. We are being stereotyped as preppy, snobby, slutty, “the populars”, and the list goes on. We are being used in examples like “The people who wear intentional holey jeans and revealing clothing are “the populars” and cheerleaders.” And “The cheerleaders wear skirts hiked up their butts and push their boobs up to the sky, but I got in trouble for wearing the clothes I did, this is favoritism.” This being all untrue is stereotyping, downgrading…

School dress code policy is one of the most enforced policies in high schools. All the high schools have a lot of opinions about what is too high, what is too low, what is too short, what is too long, what is too loose, and what is too tight. Because of this, they are very specific in what us girls should and shouldn’t wear. “All dresses, skirts, and shorts cannot be worn above your mid-thigh.” Does that mean we can only wear long shorts? Is it just me or does it sound a little weird? Aren’t long shorts pants? “All pants should be worn on your waist.” What if we want to wear high-waisted pants? Would we get in trouble for wearing pants above the waist?…

Lastly, with all the peer pressure in school, many students worry about fitting in. If a dress code (or even uniforms) were required, there would be less emphasis on how you look, and more emphasis on learning. Then there are more than handful of people that have financial problems at home and aren’t able to wear the latest styles and then there are the kids that go…

Many people these days believe a dress code is the answer to most school problems but, they're wrong. In many ways I think this is an unreasonable dress code. During hot days we are not allowed to wear shorts, but instead jeans or dresses. Another thing is I don’t believe that without the dress code it wouldn’t be distracting. The dress code has also forced many families to buy a whole new wardrobe for their children. As you can see, the dress code might be a little extensive for…

    Dress Code In School

Every school has a dress code, in other words telling people that wearing something might distract the other students. The dress code is directed towards females in school, telling them to cover themselves because the boys might get distracted by the bare skin on their shoulders, legs or centimeter of stomach.. I hate to burst the school's dress code but those body parts are not distracting anyone from learning. Obviously, covering up boobs, butt, and other private areas is understandable and I can see why that might be distracting but shoulders and the higher part of thighs are not distracting and it just another way of saying that we live to please the males’. I think that the dress code is strictly towards girl,it is in place so that males’ are not sitracted, and it…

Additionally, kids now-a-days dress very inappropriately and a dress code can bring that to a halt. Dress codes are much needed in schools; kids don't know the borderline between what's appropriate to wear and what's not. I've seen too many short shorts for girls and drawers because boys sag their pants too low. In an area that should be focusing on education there’s little room for distractions, no more pink polka dotted underwear or cleavage showing. There would be more room to focus and concentrate if there is a firm control on children’s disturbing and revealing outfits.…
