When hockey players run, they breath faster and their heart beats faster. This causes the hockey players to lose weight and burn calories. According to AJ Carpenter, “Cardiovascular, or aerobic, exercise occurs when your movements cause your breathing and heart rate to increase, resulting in calorie burn [...] Hockey is a form of cardiovascular exercise”(Carpenter). Hockey can help with burning calories but some people may say that hockey can lead to fights and discourage some students from playing. According to James Roland, “Casual fans think of hockey as a game often marred by fighting [...] Many people are turned off by this aspect of the game and some parents may discourage their kids from participating in a sport that allows the occasional fisticuffs”(Roland). Hockey fights happen, but they happen only when teammates defend each other and when there was some misunderstanding. According to James Roland, “While fighting is only a small part of the game, players and teams use it to settle differences and defend teammates”(Roland). When players defend their team players, they also motivate, and help them continue to exercise. According to Brenna Davis, “Your teammates can help motivate you [...] when exercise and practice become particularly challenging” (Davis). Like in every sport, there is a lot of decision making in hockey. It’s especially challenging to make decision when there is a lot action. Decision making in hockey can help with decision making in the hockey players’ lives. According to Health fitness Revolution an organization made to make America healthier than before, “Hockey demands good decision-making, and honing these skills on the ice or field can also be transferred to everyday life”(Top 10 Health Benefits of Hockey). Hockey may make students smarter, but some people may say that the hockey equipment will cost a lot. According to Laurence E. Holt, who went to Dalhousie University, gave scientific contributions, and wrote “The Hockey Life: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly”, “Another less noted problem is the excessive cost of equipment”(Holt). Hockey equipment may cot a lot, but it’s worth it, because it helps to think better and faster. According to Judy Wang who has Bachelor of Arts and Doctor of Physical Therapy degrees from Washington University in St. Louis,“In high-intensity sports where athletes have to think fast on their feet and respond quickly to plays, they are not just working on their physical skills but mental acuity as well”(Wang). The speed in hockey causes the players to think better and faster when they make decision in a game. Futures should not be worried about the price of the hockey
