Why Do Bullies Need Harsher Punishment
Bullies Need Harsher Punishments
Jaquelyn Hochrein We are taught to follow The Golden Rule (to treat others the way we want to be treated.) Bullies completely ignore that rule and do what they want, but when normal students simply are late for class, they could have detention! Yes, bullies are punished, but in my opinion, they are not punished well enough. Bullies can be so aggressive that teachers are too scared to stand up for the victim or too even punish the bully! If you agree that teachers, principals, parents, cops, and more, need to stand up and give harsher punishments to bullies this is the paper for you! If you think that the punishments that we are giving now are fine, keep reading because I might just change your mind. A normal punishment is not enough! Let us say that someone trips someone on purpose, and you just say that is not nice. Yes, you are sticking up for the person who is being tripped, but are stopping the bully? Most likely, not... bullies know it is not nice, but they

Bullying can happen because of issues at home or lack of self-confidence. Many companies support the idea of confidence, but with bullying in the way, that message will not spread. Some adults believe that bullying is just “Kids being kids” but people around the world need to realize that this worldwide problem has gone way too far. Some people think that ignoring the problem will make it stop and people will forget about it. If we forget about it then bullies will not stop because if teacher let it go then the bully will get away with being mean. It is too big of a deal to just “Let it go”! After reading my thoughts on bullying, I hope you agree that suicide is not okay for young kids and that people/ kids should not enjoy making kids feel bad about themselves. What I am trying to get out of this paper is that bullies need to have better and harsher punishments and that teachers and parents need to stand up and make a

There has been a progression of bullying happening as many may have noticed, in order to be able to get the bullying to stop or to even calm down someone needs to step up and have a talk, or needs to discipline the bullies. Walking down hallways at school, people say mean words, they do not think of other people's feelings as they say the cruel words coming out of their mouths. Mostly, the reasons being why children, and young adults are usually bullying someone may be because they were not disciplined enough as a child, their parents may have not been around to do so, or they may have a rough life at home. The reasoning trying to be stated is the bullying comes from selfish people. A person can tell if somebody else is selfish or not because selfish people tend to block out what others are feeling around them, how their days went, and/or what is going on in their lives. Selfish people do not care about anyone else except for themselves. A selfish person could see somebody with nothing to their name and still not help them because they do not want to do anything for anybody else. Everyone may have a friend or a family member who they may think is a selfish person, as many people may know a person that is selfish do not be afraid to stand up to them and knock them down and tell them what they are doing is wrong. Selfish people are everywhere in todayś society and they do not care if…

Bullying happens when they are not around either of them people and also some kids are too scared to tell their parents because they don’t know how they will act nor do they know if they will stop getting bullied or if it would happen more. The victims of such actions need to understand that they can get out of that situation and also that they can sometimes do it by themselves because being bullied can mess a child up in the long run(Jacobs and McMahon np). The child can become antisocial or become very insecure about themselves, which no child deserves to go through all their lives. Not only do the people that get bullied become very distressed but also the people who witness the action happening can become very uncomfortable and stressed. This isn’t fair to the witnesses either because it can mess with their physical, mental, psychological and social well beings, along with the victim’s well being too. These problems with the victims and witnesses well beings can have a long term effect which isn’t good for either of them (Jacobs and McMahon np). Some of these situations lead to physical threats which are the one of the most common types of bullying. Also, most…

There are way to many people getting bullied every single day, and everyday after that they become a full time bully to. Bullying has become an epidemic, and it needs to come to an end. If people will stand up for each other and protect each other, I believe bullying would cease to be effective. It preys on those who do not have the confidence to defend themselves. Often times, the bully hurts others as a way of protecting himself. He believes that if he attacks others, then they will not know he himself is hurting, or has been hurt in the past. It becomes a coping mechanism for him. The biggest thing to keep in mind is that bullying should not be responded to with more violence. They need to be shown love, but firm love. A love that says, “I love you enough to not let you continue down this path. Let me show you another way.” Then you are not only l protecting those that the bully hurts, but also you are protecting the bully himself in the long run.…

Coming up with a workable plan to stop bullying has proven difficult. The approaches are all over the map. According to an article written by Maggie Clark, Illinois requires schools to do social-emotional learning exercises to prevent bullying. During the exercises, students describe their emotions during a stressful event or recognize the emotional reactions to stress. On the punishment side, five states don’t have any sanctions for bullying in their anti-bullying laws, while 12 states include a criminal sanction for bullies, ranging from school suspension to jail time, according to an analysis of state bullying laws from the Cyberbullying Research Center (Clark).…
