these rivets were low grade and could break very easily. yes they could have used stronger material, but with the material they used they thought it was strong enough and not gonna be able to sink the biggest ship that would sail the atlantic.the rivets wasn’t strong and long enough to hold the hull together. (angelo)

the support bar was not strong enough to stabilize the whole ship. it was not very sturdy.the bar was the length as the ship.it was not big around and did not have enough strength to hold the ship straight.there was a lot of people on the ship as well. They wasn’t prepared for that many people and the support bar couldn’t hold that much.(anglo)

iceberg warnings they had warnings that whole night of the voyage but ignored them cause they thought the ship was unsinkable.they didn't see any icebergs so they didn’t listen to the warnings when they saw the iceberg they thought different about what they was told. They had false hope in thought there voyage would last until they got to New York.

they told the captain about the iceberg but didn't have enough time to turn the ship cause the propellers did not turn fast enough cause they wasnt flexible enough to turn that fast. the seamen didn't know the iceberg was that close,so by then it was to late to turn around or miss the big iceberg that sunk them. (anglo)

communication wasn't the best in that time period there wasn't great technology and only had face to face contact. but they had walkie talkies but bad reception so they couldn't talk that much when something bad came up . it was a lack of communication if we wanna put it that way to be honest. they could have upgraded there technology for such a big expensive trip but they was once again cocky and confident in the rms

On May 1, 1915, the Lusitania, a luxury, British ocean liner set sail out of New York, bound for Liverpool. Captain Turner read the paper earlier that morning appending that the Germans made an admonitory stating that they had submarines in the Atlantic that haven’t given their location. Nobody was worried, as everyone presumed that the Lusitania was the safest, most sturdy ship ever built! Only two people canceled due to the warning. Captain Turner had nothing to be worried about, so he thought. Before seafaring, family and friends were allowed on the ship to say their farewells to the passengers. After beginning the voyage, everyone began to get settled in. First class passengers had tons of suitcases full of heirlooms and expensive items.…

The sinking was completely caused by the negligence of the crew and the captain. The captain was given more than plenty warnings of icebergs being located in the direction of where the boat was going. One of the first warnings was at 9:00 a.m., it states “ Captain, Titanic- Westbound steamers report bergs growlers and field ice 42 degrees N. from 49 degrees to 51 degrees W. 12th April.”, the location was provided…

On April 15, 1912, 1500 people died on board the RMS Titanic. Families were lost at sea, struggling to survive in the dark, murky waters of the Trans-Atlantic Ocean. However, one question remains… Who or what is responsible for the sinking of the ‘unsinkable ship’? The Titanic set sail on April 10, 1912 carrying 2200 passengers and 1300 crew. She hit an iceberg on April 14, 1912 at 11:45 p.m. At first the captain thought that the ship had merely scraped the iceberg. The damage was much worse... The iceberg scraped the hull so bad the rivets used to hold the ship together popped out. The gash in the hull let water come into the ship at 10 tons per second! Of the 2200 passengers, she carried on board, only 700 survived. Some people say that Thomas Andrews (the head designer of the Titanic) was responsible for the tragedy due to faulty ship design. Others say that J. Bruce Ismay is responsible for encouraging faulty ship design. Ismay is to blame because he should have told Thomas Andrews to make the supposed ‘water tight’ bulkheads higher. Ismay also should have added more lifeboats to save everyone on board in case of disaster. Out of all the culprits, Ismay is the most responsible because he had the final say in how the ship was made.…

One reason that the Titanic sunk is because it ran up on an iceberg in the middle of the night. The captain did not have time to slow down. But, they were already going way too fast. Also, the crew members tried to tell the captain about the iceberg but the captain ignored them and told them to “shut up”. However, out of the many women that died on the ship, Miss Emily Badman, 18 years old, survived the Titanic.…

Abandon Ship! On one fatal day the USS Indianapolis took its final curtain call. The battleship sank in a matter of 12 minutes, killing 880 men and scaring 317 for the rest of their years. These men spent 110 hours in the water hopelessly waiting for someone to rescue them from their worst nightmare. The haunting thought of just how grotesquely many of the men died hides in the minds of many. While the event cannot be overturned and the deaths cannot be rewritten, one may wonder what courses of action could have been taken to avoid such a tragic event. At 7:45 am on the morning of Wednesday 5, May, 1937, Mackay radio relayed weather warnings from three ships at sea to Hindenburg. One of the warnings, coincidentally, was from the Britannic, the sister ship to the Titanic [9]. It told of light rains extending down the eastern seaboard of North America but shortly after this communication, an electrical disturbance caused a wireless blackout for several hours. The Hindenburg continued on uneventfully, passing close to Titanic’s grave site, until late in the afternoon when the passengers could see the lighthouses of Cape Race and white icebergs contrasting against the surrounding gray seas. Breakfast on that fateful Thursday found the Hindenburg over Boston making directly for her New Jersey destination.…

The Titanic was said to be the biggest and most luxurious ship of its time, next to its two sister ships named Olympic and Brittitanic. Olympic and Brittitanic were built and owned by the same company as Titanic, “The White Star Line”. There was another ship named the Lusitania. That ship was built by another company named Cunard Liners. The Lusitania made its voyage from New York to Plymouth in 5 days and 17 hours because of its miraculous speed. So the Titanic wanted to be the headlines of the newspaper by making its voyage to New York from England in less time than Lusitania. The Titanic ended up having unsinkable features including a double bottom, watertight subdivisions and built of iron. Many people did believe that Titanic was unsinkable because of its 16 watertight compartments. Even if two compartments filled…

In August, 1807, a steamboat designed by Robert Fulton successfully completed the first round trip voyage from New York to Albany and back (Steamboats, par 1). This voyage started an obsession for advancement in steam travel that reached across the Atlantic and into the minds of the British people. Their quest to always out-do their competitors eventually led to the creation of one of the most famous steamboats of all time. The Titanic was the most luxurious ship that had ever been built. It could not compete with the speed of other steamships, however, so the English decided to compensate by creating the largest and most elaborate ship the world had ever seen (Sinking, par 3). The Titanic was financed by an American company, International Mercantile Marine, which purchased White Star Lines, the British marine company responsible for building the Titanic. The ship, however, was built totally with British technology, registered as a British ship, and manned by British officers (Sinking, par 2). The Titanic launched its first voyage from Southampton, England on the evening of April 14, 1912 (Sinking, par 1). It was traveling to New York when it struck an iceberg and sank, killing fifteen hundred people. The superiority of the Titanic will always be overshadowed, however, by the memory of one of the greatest disasters of all…
