What if the Civil War had not happened? The slavery system in the North America will die out slowly later because of the trend of the times or it will continuously spread out its influence to non-slaved states. It is difficult to find the most exact situation in this case. However, the human beings know that the slavery had existed for a long time before it was abolished completely. Surprisingly, 1981 is the year the last country, Mauritania, abolished slavery1. The end of Civil War is in 1865, meaning that, this “evil” system could have the possibility of spreading out in America more than 100 years if the Civil War had not happened. According to Jefferson Davis’s speech given to the Confederate army in October 1863, he claimed that the South was “forced to take up arms” to defend its “freedom” and “State sovereignty” against the threat of “slavish submission to despotic usurpation” from the North. This speech is the explanation of the South’s participation in the war. However, it is only an apologia for maintaining the slavery. I completely support the North in the Civil War, not because it is the winner, but because it has more reasonable reasons to take up arms.
