It was 1939, and Germany was becoming a threat, breaking the Treaty of Versailles which did not allow them to build an army, but under Hitler they were building an army and had mad ideas. As it started gaining back land from which they lost in World War 1, neighbouring countries became alert of its aggressiveness. It was given the little land it wanted in hope that it would back down from other countries. But as how Winston Churchill anticipated, it did not. Germany began conquering nearby countries like Poland. By 1941, Nazi Germany had invaded France, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxemburg, Denmark and Yugoslavia. Also, Germany started the Holocaust, its attempt of killing all the Jews. The reason was because Hitler blamed the Communists, the Jews, and the disabled people for Germany’s past misfortunes and tragedies. Germany also had its allies, like Japan, Italy, and the Soviet Union. They all wanted the same thing and it was to control and reign the world. By then, the incident at Pearl Harbour had already happened after the U.S. had declared war on Japan. Since Germany and Japan were allies, Germany was at war with the United States as well.
This was because he didn’t want to get caught and sentenced to death in the misery of those filthy, horrid, concentration camps. His sister, mother, and father were all killed. It was only he and his brother who were to escape go through an awfully hard and long journey to get out of what was once home but turned into living hell. He now had to travel from Hungary to Mexico, as planned, or anywhere in the Western Latino hemisphere. The situation only got worse when he left his home for his life. Now the term run for your life was real. As he crossed Europe to get on a boat that would take him to the Gulf of Mexico, the conditions were harsh.
