Picture a class of twenty elementary students hidden under desks around the classroom, and the teacher is begging the children to stop sobbing. Down the hall the sound of gunshots ring out the sounds of people screaming and begging for help can be heard. The shooter is moving closer and closer to the area and all the innocent soon to be victims are defenseless. There is nothing in that classroom that is going to stop what is about to happen. Now imagine a teacher with a handgun that could at least scare off the shooter, or deter them from advancing into the room. Many people frown upon teachers being able to carry a handgun on school grounds, but if they only knew that the thing they frown upon could possibly be saving their kids life. It makes perfect sense that teachers should be able to carry a handgun if and only if they go through the proper training and tests.…

II. Gun Control simply wouldn’t be a good idea and is not the answer to this ongoing problem. Our right to bear arms should not be taken away. The only thing this would accomplish is taking away the right and protection for those who do make good choices. Criminals have and will find other ways to commit their crimes. So, I hope that the next time the gun control debate comes up; you will take a stand and be able to voice why gun control will not work.…

Michael Brown, Tamir Rice, Sandra Bland, Philando Castile, and Freddie Gray are just a few of the names that in the past year have intruded our lives and made themselves known with a commanding presence. With a certain ease, their stories made waves across the country resulting in a mass migration of people to whatever side suited their opinions; the police or the ‘victims’. The ‘sudden’ uptick in racially charged police shootings highlights the problem with society exquisitely! Upon hearing an iota of detail, one side of a story, we jump to conclusions about what happened. But, why is it a problem that we do that? Well, for starters, the victims in these police shooting cases often get the ‘spotlight’ first. This allows for them, or those…

Bang! bang! Children run to hide! Is this something you want the world to know about? Do you want your children to be put in a murder scene or a potential one? Why not allow teachers to carry guns if they're able to? Even though most people think it is a horrid idea; the reality is, that increased publicity has caused people to react negatively. They need to understand that there is specialized handlers training for those teachers that do carry, background checking on the individual applying for the concealed carry license, and the schools are limiting the number of teachers with guns.…

Some say that police shootings are unjustified. While it is true that some police attack people unfairly, it is not fair to say that all shootings are unjustified. Police get a call and they chase after the criminal in question or whoever fits the description of the call. After they have located the criminal, the police attempt to arrest and when the person being detained resists arrest, things get harder to do and sometimes require possibly lethal force. There are also people…

There is a major debate going on in the U.S. on gun control. Should people have the right to carry a concealed weapon or should they only be allowed to have a gun in their home? Another question is if the government were to ban guns would that be doing us law-abiding citizens more harm then good? Or maybe they should only allow guns in the hands of people that have had background checks and our licensed to handle them. [C]itizens in Missouri, North Carolina, and Texas are asking their state legislatures for the ability to defend themselves against violent criminal attack regardless of where the attack takes place”(Swasey 175).…

Some believe that the government should make gun laws stricter for the safety of them and their family. Others feel that that the gun laws should remain the same, because they don’t want their constitutional rights violated. What is the controversy surrounding this topic? The controversy is that the government believes that the world would be a safer place if the gun laws are stricter. Some feel that their rights would be violated, and the final group of people is the ones who are kind of on both sides. They want the laws to be stricter but they also care about their own rights. The government has to find a solution that will satisfy all three groups of people. They try to find balance amongst the group. Should the…

A gun is a weapon consisting of a metal tube, with mechanical attachments, from which projectiles are shot by the force of an explosive; a piece of ordnance (Dictionary.com). Today, there has been a lot of controversy on gun control. This controversy has arisen due to the increased gun violence crime rate. Even though guns are often viewed as bad, many people rely on them for protection. It states in our second amendment that we have the right to bear arms, although people have misused guns, taking them away will lead to a decrease in self protection. “Our Second Amendment right not only states “the right of the people to keep and bear arms,” but more importantly for this issue, “shall not be infringed” (The Times News).” Even though we have our rights, guns are not unlimited. With this controversial issue there is much to consider when creating new laws and guidelines.…

I believe men should all carry guns. The reasons are very simple my dad always told me “Son, there comes a time in every man's life when he stops busting knuckles and starts busting caps and usually it is when he becomes too old to take an ass whooping." I do not carry a gun to kill people. I carry a gun to keep from being killed.” Those words will always stay with me. I will use myself as an example, I have a gun permit. I am a peace-loving, godly man. I am a Christian but I do not carry a gun to scare people. I carry a gun because sometimes this world can be a scary place. I do not carry a gun because I am paranoid. I carry a gun because there are real threats in the world. I do not carry a gun because I am evil. I carry a gun because I have lived long enough to see the evil in the world. I do not carry a gun because I hate the government. I carry a gun because I understand the limitations of the government. I do not carry a gun because I love it. I carry a gun because I love life and the people who make it meaningful to me. "Police Protection" is an oxymoron. Free citizens must protect themselves. Police do not protect you from crime; they usually just investigate the crime after it happens and then call someone in to clean up the mess. Personally, I carry a gun because I'm too young to die and too old to take an ass whooping.…

There have always been questions as to if hand guns should be legal, or illegal, to all citizens. Is it right for anyone to carry a gun and shoot it when they want to? Many people believe that anyone has the right to walk in to a store and buy a gun, while others think there should be more involved, such as background checks and identification papers. There have always been arguments between pro and anti-gun citizens, and even with the new rules out there are still arguments. There are people who say hand guns in a home can only cause accidents. This is valid because there have been several incidents where a child has thought that a gun is a toy and has injured themself or others. Also, there have been situations where a gun has been left lying around loaded and someone was shot accidentally. Sometimes guns are left out in the open and some people even get the idea to shoot themselves. It is estimated that four people die each day because of accidental gun fire.…
