Why Illegal Immigrants Are Bad For the US Imagine, if you will, the American Dream-a family sure to be successful in building a good life together. Now, unfortunately, Americans have to put the American Dream on hold because they have been relegated to “survival mode” due to the economic decline resulting in loss of jobs and homes. The American people are at a low point which is not helped by the tremendous amount of illegal immigrants entering the United States illegally everyday. The United States is indeed the land of opportunity and leads people from all over to want to come here but coming through the “back door” is wrong. If they go through the steps of becoming an American citizen the right way many Americans I think will be okay …show more content…
In 2008 and 2010 illegal immigrants gained one million jobs as Americans were losing them. (Why illegal Immigration is bad for America) Since they work “off the books” they pay no direct taxes also receive free housing, education, food stamps and health care. They receive federal housing making struggling Americans and legal citizens stuck waiting for a spot. (The Associated Press) The department of education states all students legal or not are entitled to public education. (Our Public Schools) This is a problem public schools are already financially struggling, my old high school laid off many teachers leaving class rooms with more students, more work for the teacher and less time for individual help. Illegal immigrants receive free emergency room health care by the federal emergency medical treatment and labor act which requires U.S hospitals to provide care no matter what their legal status. (Book) For the medical bills not paid by illegal immigrants, insured Americans rates are raised to make up the lost funds. How is all this fair?
