Why Are Humans Responsible For Global Warming
Global warming is leading the world into a point of no return. Humans have been modifying the environment exponentially, and since the industrial revolution the “carbon dioxide in the atmosphere has increased by about 35%” (Le Treut 97). Who is the responsible of these changes, how do we know they are true, and how does these changes would impact our living in the future? This carbon dioxide increase is known to be mainly caused by the deforestation of forests, and the combustion of fossil fuels. Recent studies confirmed the relationship between atmospheric CO2 and global temperature, and explained even further the devastating effect of the greenhouse gases. Wilhelm Herschel in the 18th century discovered the bright patches on the sun, now called faculae. He believed when this faculae spots appeared solar activity was increased, leading to greater solar emissions of light and heat. The total solar irradiance (TSI) absolute value was difficultly measured from the Earth’s surface, because atmosphere influenced the measurements (Le Treut 108). By 1876 Samuel Langley concluded after estimated that “at sunspot cycle maximum the sun would be around 0.1% less bright and at the minimum of the cycle the sun would be 0.1ºC to 0.3ºC cooler” (Le Treut 108). The solar cycles are related with variations of TSI. Shifts in the solar radiation make changes in Earth´s surface temperature of tenths of a degree; However, changes in temperature that small are nothing compared to the actual pace of warming. These changes are not the major causes of increase in global temperature (Le Treut 108). This discovery worked as a milestone for the global warming studies. Showing the unanimous guilty of this deadly path. Unless unknown effects lead to bigger changes in the global system we could consider this TSI variations as dangerous.

It is based in the Stablishing of quotas for those countries that does not follow or improve their global improvement campaigns. Each country would have a limited amount of allowed emissions directly related to its population, the ones that does not meet the agreed amount will have to pay a quota or penalty (Maergoiz 3). Global warming is the key factor of the climate change. By knowing the world´s situation we are more aware the problems we could face as part of it. Our society is living in the information and knowledge era and it is inexcusable that people and governments does not make any change for the good of the planet. We must stop living in the darkness of “meaningless” and focus on the major decision we are taking.
