I believe abortion should be legal because I feel that every woman has the right to do what they want with their own body. Abortion is the termination of pregnancy by the removal or expulsion from the uterus of a fetus or embryo prior to viability. (Grimes, 2013). Abortion is not a laughing matter and I believe when a women comes to a conclusion that they need to terminate a pregnancy they have realized the outcome of their decision. Many women are faced to terminate a pregnancy do to rape, financially, or just not ready. All these conclusions need to be thought out before allowing it to physically or mentally affect you.

Abortion is a very serious matter especially when you are dealing with a human being. I believe someone who is physically attacked and becomes pregnant should have the decision to terminate the pregnancy. People need to understand that there are women that were victims of rape who do not wish to keep the baby. It is not the woman's fault that the woman got pregnant. It is understandable if a woman chooses not to keep her baby in this situation. It could be because of the emotional trauma, or because she doesn't want to be constantly reminded of the fact that she was a rape victim when she sees her child.

Rape is one of the most traumatic events an individual can experience. We ought to do everything possible to assuage the suffering of rape victims. If the victim has become pregnant as a result of the rape, this will generally add to the victim’s trauma. (Binding, 2009).

Abortion can have a physical and mental effect on a woman especially if she has been raped. When a girl is raped, she feels dreadful. The trauma of being raped could break her down and make her depressed and that is only the beginning. After she gets raped, in her own eyes, she has no respect or self-esteem for herself and then comes the embarrassment. Her reputation in the society will be damaged permanently and everyone will look down upon her....
