Who Was Responsible For Macbeth's Downfall
Macbeth Essay

macbeth is responsible for his own fall.

In William Shakespeare play Macbeth the main character Macbeth the war hero ends up with a very tragic ending due to his own stupid choices and influences by his wife lady macbeth and the witches. In the beginning macbeth was a very loyal and noble man who would not be known to do something so awful as to kill his king and friend. In some ways macbeth only can be blamed for his downfall as he was the one who physically murdered the king and Duncan. But I believe all three can be blamed for Macbeths fall and the murders as they all took part in the things that lead to the macbeths tragic ending.

The witches knew macbeths weaknesses this gave them the power so they could lure him as he had confidence in them “as, by the strength of their illusion, shall draw him on to his confusion: he shall spurn fate, scorn death, and bear. His hopes 'bove wisdom, grace, and fear: and you all know security is mortals chiefest enemy.” this quote is a clear indication that the witches were taking advantage of macbeth. When they foretold macbeth that his desire would persist him to kill the king so that he could take the position, he then became ambitious in wanting there predictions of him taking the position as king and this led him to take action and murder the king and Duncan in

She was the one who wanted macbeth to 'become a man' in killing them so she could become royalty. The witches utilize half-truths to confuse and manipulate Macbeth into making decisions they know will cause him pain and misery. While Macbeth is seen as a noble man by many, the witches are fully aware of the darkness inside him, and this become known when they announce “Something wicked this way comes” (4.1.45-46) as Macbeth approaches them. Their knowledge of Macbeth and his inner darkness gives them the ability to sabotage his life. The witches know that with the proper persuasion, Macbeth will kill Duncan. Knowing this, they provide an instrumental image in the murder of Duncan, the dagger. Macbeth does not know if it is real or simply a vision, “To feeling as to sight? or art thou but a dagger of the mind, a false creation?” (2.1.37-38), but it proves enough to convince Macbeth to…

They persauded Macbeth to kill people only because they wanted to be benefited. they were selfish and not worrying that they would soon turn Macbeth into a crazed lunatic The witches delighted in chaos and toil. They did not tell Macbeth what to do but they simply showed him what can happen through their prophecies and the apparitions they showed to Macbeth. Macbeth could've been a perfect target for them to bring about this chaos. Macbeth is a strong soldier, he has killed enemies in war, and perhaps the witches knew his true nature("by the prickling of my thumb, something wicked this way comes..."). The extent of their influenced is demonstrated through their predictions, they are temptations and a form of flattery which Macbeth eventually gave into. On one hand, Lady Macbeth has the far greater influence because she is Macbeth's wife and they share a passionate relationship together. Just like the witches she flatters him, but this time it is a direct flattery and a direct temptation towards him. As far as Macbeth being changed into a diffrent person, he himself is responsible for his own actions. The final decision lies within him and this was demonstrated when he carried out the murder of King Duncan. Lady Macbeth acts as the catalyst for Macbeth. Macbeth realised that he would have to commit regicide (stars, hide your fires; let light not see my deep and black desires), but he was unwilling to do so. Lady Macbeth changes his mind by attacking his manhood, despite the brave acts he has commited as a soldier. She also flatters him shamelessly. The murder of Duncan sets Macbeth on the trail of evil, as he didn't consult his wife when he killed Banquo and Macduff's family. He didn't even care when she commited suicide. The witches represent the Three Fates in Greek Mythology. they connotate destiny, fate, etc. They delight and thrive in chaos and toil. In my opinion, the witches represent the primeval human emotions of hate and wickedness. They are all that is…

There are many possible people who are responsible for Macbeth's downfall. There are the witches who told Macbeth he would become king and made him think that he couldn't be killed because “... none of women born shall harm Macbeth...” and “... Macbeth shall never vanquished be, until Great Birnam wood to high Dunsinane hill...” which suggested to Macbeth that no one could kill or defeat him. Another person who aided Macbeth's downfall was Lady Macbeth who when told of the witches prophecy persuaded Macbeth to kill Duncan and leave his sons in the frame for it when Duncan arrived to celebrate Macbeth defeating the Norwegians.…

Macbeth is one of the greatest plays and most valuable lessons there is for the people who are overly ambitious. Macbeth’s downfall was all because of weakness, he didn’t believe in himself and he did not realize that he did not have to submit to his wife to be considered a man. His wife was quite the manipulator and got him to do just about anything, many would say it is her fault for his downfall, although it may not be entirely her fault or the witches because somewhere deep inside of him he already had the burning sensation to be powerful, she played a big role in his…

Argument #3 Paragraph #3: Macbeth will now do anything to survive and avoid fate, as it has been easier for him to commit immoral deeds. He has murdered many to achieve his standing as king all the while losing sight of right and wrong. He has become twisted and evil which is identified throughout the play. He loses his sense of what’s true and what’s false heavily relying on the witches prophesies, as they state that no man bore of woman could kill Macbeth. At this point it seems as if overconfidence will be his hubris along with ambition.…

According to Merriam-Webster dictionary, the definition of downfall is “a sudden loss of power, happiness, success, or something that causes failure”. Downfall is involved in William Shakespeare’s notorious play, The Tragedy of Macbeth. Despite the fact that it seems as though Lady Macbeth and the witches took a toll on Macbeth’s behaviour throughout the play, Macbeth’s personal decisions lead him to his own catastrophe. Firstly, Macbeth’s brave and courageous nature motivates him to commit a serious crime, in which he was not completely satisfied with; due to the fact that it made people believe that he did not attain the king of Scotland in a fair manner. Secondly, Macbeth is an obstinate character. Macbeth wants nothing to do with his conscience. He refuses to listen to his conscience. His conscience requests that he changes his ways and forgets about the terrible things he has done in the past, since it is directing him in the wrong direction. Additionally, being extremely pragmatic directed Macbeth to his downfall in reason of him trying to complete problems instead of relying on specific ideas. Lastly, Macbeth’s emotional disorder takes a toll on his behaviour throughout the novel. His emotional disorder leads him to do things that he does not mean. Succeeding the killing of king Duncan, Macbeth is concerned about the death and he also feels remorseful to the crime he has committed. Also, Macbeth’s insanity causes him to hallucinate Banquo’s ghost, who is a commander of Duncan’s army. Macbeth’s actions after hallucinating precisely shows that he feels guilty for the committing the crimes.…

It is said that the witches were just figments of his imagination. In either case, the prophecies told act as a vehicle to plant ambition in him which then leads him to be greedy with his new found happiness, lie to all those he trusts, and eventually to multiple murders.…
