Who Is The Protagonist In To Kill A Mockingbird
Scout is a great protagonist in To Kill A Mockingbird. Her character is well-developed and has many cheerful characteristics. She has all of the qualities of a good protagonist. But in every good story with a protagonist, there is an equally good antagonist. The many citizens of Maycomb are the great antagonists in this story. You could say that Aunt Alexandra is the antagonist of the story. She strongly dislikes Calpurnia and the other black people. She doesn’t think that black people should have the same rights as white people, and she doesn’t want Calpurnia hearing the news that they have. She thinks that the black people would gossip about this news. She also believes that the kids shouldn’t have a black mother figure to look up to. Although

    Harper Lee uses Scout to represent a new generation of people who are willing to push the boundaries of social normalities, fight for justice and accept that “there’s only one type of folk. Folk” even if it means going against the wishes of society. She as well as many other children of the time are being taught to think independently, which creates a sense of hope, as these children are the future forefronts of Maycomb society.
