Sherlock Holmes in the movie played by Robert Downey Jr. and in the show Elementary played by Jonny Lee Miller are enjoyable and have some great takeaways but they fall short to Sherlock played by Benedict Cumberbatch. Downey-Holmes’s character is the funniest which I like it brings sort of a lightness to Sherlock which the other actors try but aren't as good at. His downfall is he is too eccentric for Sherlock. He needs to be more of a grounded character. He seems he is always running around all over the place either on drugs or alcohol. Also Sherlock doesn't strike me as a fighter I get where they're coming from but Sherlock shouldn’t be beating everyone down. Miller-Holmes is the most likeable he looks clean cut and almost a ladies man. He is edgy and modern day. I like that however he is too cocky to be Sherlock. Cumberbatch-Holmes has all the chops to be Sherlock. In this series he is a tamer Sherlock. He is still Sherlock but seems more like a real life Sherlock would . Cumberbatch-Holmes is in control and doesn't drive himself so crazy where it hinders his performance to solve the case. Sherlock may sometimes get in the way a little bit but he doesn't go around blowing stuff up and just making a mess everyplace. He can solve a case without the whole investigation going haywire. In the meeting with the killer he doesn't try to fight him. Although he does outsmart him it looks like a normal conversation between two men and Cumberbatch-Holmes is in control.
