Who Is Jean Fritz's Homesick?
Homesick is a book written by Jean Fritz. It is about her own life, which makes it an autobiography. It takes place in 1920’s in China. Jean was born in China and is living there because her father works for the YMCA. During this time a revolution was going on in China and people were suffering. Jean wants very much to return to America so she writes letters to her Grandmother who lives on a farm in Pennsylvania.
Lin Nia-Nia is Jean’s nanny and good, loyal friend. Jean teaches her english and everything she knows about America. Lin Nia-Nia looks like an average Chinese woman, but she had a hard and sad family life. Jean’s parents loved her and made her feel better.
