Who Is Caroline Callman's First Wand
On the morning of August 30, Caroline Callahan cheerfully walked into Ollivanders to purchase her very first wand. The very first wand that she tried out happened to be the wand for her. The wand consisted of chestnut wood and unicorn hair core, 12.5 inches, and slightly flexible. The wood of her wand suited her personality perfectly, because of her love of animals. It was also perfect for her because of her desire for world peace and justice. Her wand possesses the core of unicorn hair, which will be loyal to her personality and wand wood. Her wand is 12.5 inches, which is a suitable length. Her wand is slightly flexible, because she is okay with some change, but not big change. The smooth handle of her thin wand fits perfectly in her hand,

    The Influences Tom Thumb

“...the queen of the fairies came flitting in at the window and kissed him and gave him the name of Tom Thumb. Then seven other fairies came dancing in…” (James Baldwin). Fairies are very mystical things and though there were many superstitions in ancient times, fairies are a stretch. Having fairies as a main plot point was a new and much pondered idea. “Tom never grew any larger than his father’s thumb, which was only of ordinary size” (Grimm). Tom himself was only as big as a thumb, so most likely about 2 inches tall, and that would have been an unheard of idea. People are generally only used to what they know and see, so the idea of a boy being as tall as a thumb was very creative. “Little did this this good-hearted couple realise that their humble guest was, in fact, none other than Merlin, the greatest and most skillful wizard who ever lived” (Grimm). Though Merlin was a popular character in many stories as well as a big chunk of folklore, a wizard was still a very creative idea. The ability to perform magic and bewitch things was usually looked down upon by most people, whereas in this story he is a nice old traveler. For these few reasons and more, “Tom Thumb” is a very creative story for its…

    The Unicorn Tapestries

One of the problems is that “The Unicorn is Tamed by the Maiden” only survives in two fragments. The general accepted order of the tapestries as asserted first by Rorimer and later by Freeman is laid out by Helmut Nickel, “The Start of the Hunt, The Unicorn at the Fountain, The Unicorn Tries to Escape, The Unicorn Defends Himself, The Unicorn Is Tamed by the Maiden (preserved only as a fragment), The Unicorn Is Killed and Brought to the Castle, and finally The Unicorn in Captivity” (Nickel 1982). However, countless scholars have noted the differences between the first and last of the series of tapestries. When studying “The Unicorn in Captivity” (fig. 7) and “The Start of the Hunt” (fig. 1), the first noticeable difference is the millefleur style of the background flora, while in the other five tapestries the plants are woven more realistically and naturally (Alexander and Woodward 1965, 2). This could mean that these two tapestries were woven elsewhere, that they simply are not part of the series, or that they were not woven by the same weavers. It is most likely that the tapestries are all part of the same series, due to the AE markings present on all of the tapestries, but their differences could be due to any of the reasons speculated above. The possible explanations for the striking differences in the first and final tapestries are endless, but one…

I know that because of how much of the potion she gave me that I ended up combining it with the makeup of my body so that I could survive. I also know that that the potion has a safeguard that makes it so that if the potion doesn't recognize her than the person can't control me, but I never quite understood how it worked, but the moss had said it had something to do with the makeup of her magic. And it seemed as if this girl, Hannah had the same magical makeup as Nyssa which made me worried that I would be suggestible to whatever she said, although I was pretty sure that with it in my system for so long that I had developed some immunity to it. I decided that I would cast a spell so that she couldn't talk until I decided what to do with her. I quickly cast the spell and then ask the other two children why they were in the woods. Hannah shakes her head vehemently and the two children glance at me with wide eyes but don't say a word. I decide that I must be more persuasive. Seeing how they looked at Hannah for direction I figured that she was the the leader of this ragtag group of miscreants. I form a bottomless pit below hannah and watch the children's reaction as I position them so that they can see into the hole then I drop her suddenly and let her plummet until I slowly bring her to a halt . The child who looks the youngest starts struggling against the bonds, screaming, then she wilts and whispers something almost…
