Who does the talking?

On the article “Who does the talking here?” Tannen opens her article saying women and man talk equally5 (Tannen 346). Is been said many times that women talk more than man. But is it really true? Is it possible that only women are nosy and love to talk or does it depend on the type of conversation? Tannen’s opinion on this work is that this studies are done in different types of conversations (346). For example, when in a meeting is most likely for man to talk more than women. Another example that tannen points out is when a man arrives home he is so tired that when asked how your day he’s answer was is as simple as fine (346). As humans we usually notice that others talk more when we are usually quiet other than that we don’t think they talk as much (346).
The study done at college as Tannen points out the results could be skewed due to that to count the students words there would have to be a research to see what the topics they were really talking about were. Some topics interest more women than man and vice versa. I believe that many of these exams and studies have been done due to curiosity. For women and girls, the talk is the glue to a relationship (347). Men tend to say women talk more and women tend to say that is man are the one who talk more. But it really depends on the topic. Studies have shown that the female love of chit-chat begins at a young age. Girls learn to speak earlier and more quickly than boys (347). They produce their first words and sentences earlier, have larger vocabularies and use a greater variety of sentence types than boys of the same age.
