1) Which prior established norm do you (your group) believe Generation Y has changed?

Generation Y is a generation of choice. Unlike pervious generations, the notion of being a true adolescent, largely a creation of society, has been very strong in the heart of Generation Y. Being a adolescent is characterized by: being very liberalist and aware of our rights, cycling through various personal identities, pursuit higher education and delay entry into the work force. Pervious generations were different largely due to the workforce, Baby boomers and many Generation X babies, were forced into working roles after high school. Therefore they had a more discontinuous transition into adulthood, less time to develop an identity. Also pervious generations

    Catherine Rampell’s “A Generation of Slackers? Not so much” starts her essay out by quoting strong and negative opinion statements made by people who believes Generation Y are lazy, dumb and etc. From the beginning of her essay Rampell had used a Tone that set out to make readers believe like she was attacking Generation Y but ironically transition the tone of her work into a defense towards generation y. It proves her defense by quoting evidence to support her views of Generation Y (“Today’s young people are very focused on trying to work hard and to get ahead”).     The “entitlement generation” is a term used to describe those individuals that were born between 1979 and 1994. However some studies have even included those born as early as the year 1978 or as late as the year 1980. I personally know many people who are born within those years.
