Recently, there has been much discussion revolving around the issue of whether the “cutting tradition” should be allowed. From my perspective, female circumcision is a tradition which not only violates human rights but also aggravates the inequality between female and male. Therefore, it should be banned definitely.
To be more specific, since the result of having circumcision surgery has no benefits but harm, female should not be compulsorily compelled to have this surgery. To start with, “circumcision” actually refers to . Furthermore, this phenomenon exists in some developing countries including Egypt, Africa, India, Indonesia. Meanwhile, it also exists in some developed countries where the migrants practice the “cutting tradition”. According to a report republished by the World Health Organization, it said that: “It involves removing and damaging healthy and normal female genital tissue, and interferes with the natural functions of girls' and women's bodies.” (“Female Genital Mutilation." WHO. N.p., Feb. 2012. Web. 28 Oct. 2012. .) Obviously, few female can avoid the detrimental influences upon their health, which are absolutely triggered by circumcision. However, some others are convinced that circumcision enables female to stabilize their libido so that they can be innocent and beautiful enough in their husbands’ eyes. Furthermore, it reported :“in some parts of Indonesia the women most often identified the clitoris as the affected body part.” Apparently, it is not true. Women are more likely to be the victims rather than being the effect according to the report of the World Health Organization.
Additionally, circumcision can also be considered as a violation of the human rights of female. It is true that women and girls have no rights to reject, in other words, no explicit laws ban this “cutting tradition” though loads of demerits are found out recently.
