When I Grow Up In Mexico
Growing up in Mexico This is my story of when I was a little girl in Mexico. When I was growing up it was very different from now. I grew up in a big city. Today, there is a lot of smog and crimes. I only remember the good things though. Like, the house we grew up in, the tacos we woud eat every morning before school and my grandfather. My memories at five years old are very few. I remember my mom cooking and cleaning our house. We used to live in a small place. It had one room, a kitchen and a bathroom. We did not have a garage , a yard or other rooms, but I was happy and had no worries.

During that time we lived in a studio in my grandpas house. The school i attended at the time was Dwight eisenhower elementary. Everyone thought i was a genius because i got 4 diplomas at the trimester awards while everyone got two or one. What i remember the most from living with my grandpa was every weekend he used to knock at our door at 7 am just to come talk to us. It was annoying because he wouldn't stop until we opened the door. He was always so eager to spend time with his grandkid. It was nice being the only child, but then came 2006 and i was no longer the queen of the house. Before i knew it in 2008 we had another package included into my family. Our family was growing rapidly so my parents decided to move out into a much bigger house, which is where i live today. I moved to a new school called carrillo ranch elementary. Everything was pretty smooth, no worries, no stress, and easy going such as in the beginning of a roller…

Life can be as negative or positive as you want it to be. Nothing either bad or good can last forever. My complete name is Anahi Angelica Tiburcio Loyola. I am a senior at Vista High School. I am from a town name San Jorge Nuchita, huajuapan de Leon Oaxaca Mexico.Five years ago my parents took a decision for me, a really good one I can say. I was excited about all the changes. I thought scarcity would disappear .My dad came to the United States two years before us. He had been coming forward and back every two years to visit us on holidays only. He had been risking his life every time he came to visit us. It was not easy for my mom to raise four children by herself, and neither was it easy for my dad to be without his family. Because of this situation, my dad talked with my mom and decided that we all should come to live with him. But, there was a problem. We all as a family were undocumented. Because of our situation, my dad searched for a person who knew a way to get into illegally. Everyone knows that this is a very dangerous decision.…

I grew up in Freedom, North Dakota as Marissa Frank. It was a dull November day, when my life would change forever. I was in the middle of a test in science class when a large man came into the classroom. He whispered something to the teacher and then asked me to go into he hallway with him. He told me that I would need to bring all my stuff with me down to the police station and that they had a few questions to ask me.…

Growing up I have always enjoyed going on trips to Mexico with my family. When I was seven, my parents decided to go to Mexico for a week in the summer and packed enormous luggage’s to fit in our truck. The trip was long and boring for my two older brothers but I always enjoyed the view from my side of the window because there were different stores, buildings, and farms out on the road. The beautiful city of Monterrey is where my mom’s family lived and we adored seeing the magnificent mountains that surrounded the city. Traveling to Mexico was one of my favorite childhood memories because I enjoyed spending time with my family, going on trips together, and eating traditional Mexican food.…

Although I have no pictures to show these memories, they are still as sharp to myself as if it were yesterday, pardon my cliché. Memories such as Me and Scott not being allowed to play in the sun on really bright days due to our light blonde hair, or how I use to watch hockey games with Kyle and his dad when I was growing up. Or the time Dan tried to drown me in his pool; well we sort of lost touch after that. So it goes.…

Memories are a funny thing. They are the mental and emotional ties that we have to the past. Without photographs or videos, memories are all we have to recall significant moments throughout our lives. Whether it is a momentous life achievement, or a simple snap shot of being happy or sad, memories live within our psyche. They are not tangible objects; they are not even exact or clear. They are fuzzy scenes in our minds that we hold on to because they evoke certain emotions or signify some kind of importance. Or maybe you have some memories stowed away and the reason has yet to be revealed. The most interesting and complex element to memories is that they are easily interfered with. While time and age are the most obvious…

I remember when I was just a little girl, about the age of twelve, when I went to the Bedford Stadium and hundreds of people were scattered in the stands and at half time the announcer started to announce a bunch of girls names. I looked down to see a bunch of girls in long dresses march down the field with what seemed to be prince charming on their arms. After a while they all were down the field and the stadium would get quiet, and then the announcer would scream out a name and everyone would start cheering and the girl would start to cry, get flowers, and her picture taken. I looked at my mom and asked what was going on, she said she was just crowned homecoming queen. I remember saying back “I want to be homecoming queen!”…

My earliest memory of my childhood joy was when I was four years old. I was sitting on the kitchen counter next to my mom helping her fix dinner. I do not remember what we cooked but I do remember having fun with my mom, it was the first time she taught me how to prepare food. I remember my mom cutting an onion and the juice squirted into my eye; it hurt so bad I screamed and yelled. To this day I still do not like to use onions when I am cooking, for this reason I have someone else cut the onions for me. I have always loved cooking with my mom and still love how we joke around when we are in the kitchen. I loved that I could tell her anything that is going on with me in my life when we are alone in the kitchen cooking together.…

I have a lot of wonderful memories from my childhood. Some of the best memories were the times I spent with my dad. He was a wonderful man, a gentle giant. The bright star burned out for eternity, leaving my universe dark and depressing.…
