To the age I am now (which is fourteen), I have fully acknowledged how creative and imaginative and somewhat dreamy my fashion skills up until now. Then again, I have always been creative in so many ways more than one. Now I have come to realize that, maybe I should pursue a career in Fashion Design. I had always had a dream of becoming the top fashion designers as of today. If I could pursue this as a life-long job, If I could pick in life-long job that I see myself doing in the next five years, Fashion Designing would be and is one of…
They make designs, curves and cuts such a way that it matches the entertainment world. In short they work hand in hand with the entertainment industry. The clothing market is booming up targeting “tweens” – children between the ages of eight and twelve who are in the in between stages of adolescence and teenagehood. This fuels up the pop culture.…
I’ve always enjoyed buying clothes with my mother and father as they cause for excellent memories. However, as customs and traditions went, I wasn’t getting the clothes that would allow me liberty to express myself as an individual. I don’t blame my parents for being raised in a conservative country where they lived in a tiny village. I find my culture a big portion of my life and in every way incorporate those traditions into my everyday life. The restrictions I was growing up with caused my craving for creativity and…
When people talk about the word “fashion,” it automatically provides a sense of popular styles of clothing, accessories, and makeup. Fashion influences not only on people’s behaviors, but also influences society on a social and economic level. Sometimes, people show their social status through the consumption of luxury goods, while this trait can be found through the history of fashion. In Adorned in Dreams, the author Elizabeth Wilson introduces fashion’s history and through these changes, people can express different belief systems, social values, and public desires. In Subculture The Meaning of Style, Dick Hebdige introduces an example in Britain’s emergence of subcultures, which illustrates people had changed their social values and beliefs…
Her mother believed in more traditional morals and was against the idea. So when it came to her studies, she decided to study fashion illustration, here, at the Fashion Institute of Technology. She received her bachelor’s degree in fashion illustration in 1964, but had difficulties finding a job with her major so she resorted to a job at the Northwest Orient Airlines as an airline reservation clerk. She quickly took advantage of the discounted flights she was able to receive and flew to London every opportunity she got. In London, she was able to study the fashion styles she saw on the streets and in stores learning about the mod fashions that was seen everywhere. She then decided to bring the fashion she saw in Europe back to New York, opening up a small shop with her husband at the time in 1969. She then began to create her own designs inspired by the Europe fashion of the sixties.…
For my research report, I have chosen to research the evolution of society’s fashion on the adolescent girl. Through the rising of hemlines and revealing garments, to discover how it has impacted on forming an adolescent girl’s own self of identity. I believe fashion is an everyday movement and an express of art; a way of showing your feeling and emotions without a sense of smile or frown.…
New York is the world's largest city of fashion in the present day, but this relationship is only one that has been established in the last century or so. Paris was the centre of fashion since fashion's beginning, but throughout fashion's history, America has come out as the present leader in fashion. Fashion has evolved into something that is no longer dictated by high society, but accessible by all people. Many things have influenced the way American women's fashion has panned out over the centuries, whether it is belief systems of the time, or major events in history. It is a process that can be followed and observed giving answers to why and how fashion has evolved over time. Today, America and its women have helped fashion develop into a force in which anonymous everyday citizens decide what is popular and fashionable.…
To be honest, before I started P.E I didn't really acknowledge being fit. I wasn't aware of what being fit really meant. More along the lines of what it's "stereotyped" to be (being skinny, working out and losing weight.) However, during these past couple weeks I've come to realize that being fit is so much more. It changes your life completely in many ways. It gives you a whole different outlook on life, makes you more aware and happy; makes simple every day activities anything but a chore. Being fit is vital, especially at my age where as I can be doing so much more with myself. And this, is what I plan to do. To be fit, not just for this semester - but for the long run.…
Fashion, aside from music, is one of my passions as well. I actually went to Fashion Industries High School as a teen.…

Growing up in Ethiopia, a third world country where opportunities come few and far between, medicine, law, and engineering are all at the forefront of these limited opportunities and overly frequented options for college students. At an early age, I uncovered my love for helping others, but to my parents’ surprise my passion was for helping my girlfriends put outfits together or helping them shop for clothes, not helping an ill person regain their health in a white coat. As I began to mature, so did my taste and understanding of the fashion industry. After relocating to America, I learned that the industry is much more than raveling in the season’s latest designs or playing dress up. The industry requires a keen understanding of the various aspects of business. From an in depth knowledge of marketing necessary to efficiently publish magazines to the attention to detail and micro management required to produce the runways shows, or the macro management experience that’s a must in order to oversee a styling company. I was astonished and even more so motivated by the business empires that are household names across the world, including the numerous fashion companies, and intrigued like never before by what takes place behind the scenes to build them from the ground up. I soon fell into the expansive world of business head first when I took an introduction class to business as a freshman in high school, in addition to a quantitative literature class to provide me with the bases for understanding the math involved, as well a college level Introduction to Business course during my senior year at a nearby community college.…
